Citroen Basalt Dark Edition: A Bold New Take on the Coupe SUV

Citroen Prepares to Launch the Sporty Basalt Dark Edition. The Citroen Basalt Dark Edition is set to debut in India with a striking blacked-out design, premium interiors, and a turbo-petrol engine. Here’s what to expect.

Citroen is launching its Basalt Dark Edition in India, which is soon to be incorporated in a sleek and sporty design into its coupe SUV. Expect complete black themes and high-level features when it comes to this new special edition.

What the Citroen Basalt Dark Edition is All About: Expect Some Things from the Upcoming SUV

Citroen has prepared to officially unveil the Basalt Dark Edition in India-the very first-ever special edition from the French automaker. This has recently been teased by the company about the soon-to-be-released coupe SUV.

Each day, companies like Tata, MG, and Mahindra have been working on,"to introduce spirit in their SUVs with some special black editions," said Citroen about enhancing the appeal of its Basalt along with blacking out exteriors and premium interior upgrades.

This particular Dark Edition is primarily based on the Max Turbo, which is the top-spec variant, thus showing up with a mix of both style and performance with very adaptations in modern technology.

Here is a glimpse at what we may expect from Citroen Basalt Dark Edition

Bold and Sleek: Citroen Basalt Dark Edition Design

Although Citroen hasn't revealed the full design details, from the teaser image, we can judge that the theme is stealthy and aggressive; all-black. The design will most likely follow that of every other black edition SUV, which will include:

  • Black ORVMs for a sleek and premium appearance

  • Darkened exterior elements to further emphasize the road presence of the coupe SUV additionally-dark alloy wheels, which will add contrast and prevent an overly monotone appearance.

This unique edition will stand tall with its unique design, so it can easily attract potential buyers who prefer a sporty and bold appearance in their SUVs.

A Sporty Cabin with Premium Features

Within, the Citroen Basalt Dark Edition brings the:

  • Black upholstery with contrasting stitching for a sporty look atmosphere.

  • Black trims throughout the cabin to enhance the premium feel.

Technology and comfort

  • 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system

  • Fully digital instrument cluster

  • Automatic climate control

  • Rearview camera

  • Six airbags for enhanced safety

  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Citroen maintains such tech-rich comforts in the Dark Edition as offered in a standard Basalt.

Powertrain: Performance with Turbo Power

The feature of the new Basalt Dark Edition will be the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated with either a:

  • Six-speed manual gearbox (producing 108 bhp and 195 Nm of torque)

  • Six-speed automatic gearbox (delivering 108 bhp and 205 Nm of torque)

This makes the sporty edition stand out not only through its looks but also with an engaging drive experience.

Why Citroen is Introducing Basalt Dark Edition

Most likely, the Dark Edition is a strategy carried by Citroen to revive sales and interest from the public on this special edition for a really unique and premium design. Emerging trends indicate that the increasing demand for limited or special edition SUVs helps boost the image of the organisation in this highly progressive market by creating a fresh angle to the offering or the Basalt without an actual major mechanical change.

With its attractive blacked-out styling, premium features, and a well-proven turbocharged engine, Citroen Basalt Dark Edition could make an attractive bundle for the compact SUV segment. The official launch and pricing, however, await confirmation, with expectations it will hit the showrooms in the not-too-distant future.
