Arriving soon in India: Maruti Suzuki EVX and Kia Nexon EV-Rival

The Indian automobile industry has fully committed to electric vehicles, with the launch of approximately 49 new models in 2023–2025, including the 5 EV, bZ4X, i5, Punch EV, and eHS.

Read the details about the biggest launches to happen in the upcoming year.

List of Biggest Launch of this Year for Car

1. Maruti Suzuki EVX

Maruti Suzuki showcased the eVX at the Auto Expo 2023 in the concept form. The model is expected to debut in the production-ready avatar in 2025 with an expected price range between Rs. 20.00 Lakh - Rs. 25.00 Lakh, depending on the variant selected.

The new Maruti eVX will feature dual-pod projector headlamps, a new grille, multi-spoke alloy wheels in silver color, LED taillights, an LED light bar at the back, ORVMs mounted on the front doors, a rear wiper and washer, roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, a number plate recess mounted in the rear bumper and an integrated spoiler.

The Maruti Suzuki eVX will be powered by an electric motor and a 60kWh battery pack. The electric SUV will, according to the company, have a 550 km range on a single full charge.

Tata Punch EV

With an expected launch in early January 2024, The electric version of the Punch is likely to be available in four variants – XE, XT, ZX, and ZX Plus Tech Lux with an expected price range between Rs. 9.50 Lakh - Rs. 12.50 Lakh, depending on the variant selected.

The exterior of the new Punch EV may include split headlamps, fog lamps, an LED tail light system, a blanked-off grille, dual-tone alloy wheels, an integrated spoiler with a stop lamp mounted high, and a rear wiper and washer. A large touchscreen infotainment system, an electric parking brake, a digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, and iRA-connected car technology will be expected interior features of the electric SUV.

Hyundai Kone EV Facelift

The second-generation Hyundai Kone is expected to reach Indian Market by May 2024. With a capacity to seat five passengers, It will likely be priced from Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

It will be available with 48.4kWh and 65.4kWh battery packs worldwide. Both the smaller and larger models will have electric motors that produce 155 horsepower and 250 Nm, 218 horsepower and 255 Nm, respectively.

Up to 490 km is the WLTP-claimed range for the second-generation Kona Electric. In 41 minutes, it can be fully charged from 10 to 80% using a fast DC charger. A 12-inch heads-up display, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, ambient lighting, connected car technology, and dual integrated 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment and driver's display are among its features. Safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist (LKA), forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera.

Mahindra XUV300 EV

The first high-voltage SUV from Mahindra is probably going to be unveiled sooner compared to later this year, with a January 2023 market launch in mind. The electric version "will be 4.2-meter long," as confirmed by Mahindra. This is a good 200mm longer than the standard XUV300, which is limited to a length of less than 4 meters to qualify for tax benefits.

Mahindra will use the body structure of the longer SsangYong Tivoli, on which the XUV300 is based, to offer more boot space, something that is quite limited on the XUV300, since EVs already enjoy a lower duty structure and are not penalized for length like ICE cars are. There are currently few details available regarding the powertrain and battery, but we can confirm that the single motor driving the front wheels will be fed by high-density NMC pouch cells and have a minimum output of 150 horsepower.
