Due to some warning lights on the instrument panel being too small, Tesla is recalling almost every car it has sold in the United States. According to documents released on Friday by US safety authorities, an online software update will be used to carry out the recall. It includes the Model S from 2012 to 2023, the Model X from 2016 to 2023, the Model 3 from 2017 to 2023, the Model Y from 2019 to 2024, and the Cybertruck from 2024.
According to the agency, the font size of the brake, park, and antilock brake warning lights is smaller than what is mandated by federal safety standards. This may make important safety information difficult to read and raise the possibility of a collision. Now, because the electronic tailboard release switches on heavy-duty pickup trucks have the potential to short circuit and open the gates while the cars are in the park, In the US, General Motors is recalling over 323,000 of these automobiles.
In documents released on its website on Tuesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that when a vehicle is in the park, water can enter the switches and cause the tailgates to open. According to the agency, this may lead to loose cargo falling out of the beds, posing a hazard on the road and raising the possibility of an accident. Before operating the truck, owners are advised by GM to make sure the tailboard is closed and latching securely. Dealers will replace the external touchpad switch. Owners will start receiving letters of notification on March 18. The recall covers some GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 and Chevrolet Silverado trucks built in the 2020–2024 model years. Furthermore, until the repairs are finished, GM dealers are to stop selling the affected vehicles.
The tailgate opening without notice has been the subject of 136 complaints, according to company records. GM was the target of three minor property damage complaints and one minor injury complaint.
