As one of the premium Maruti Suzuki cars, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 is a stylish and spacious MPV. With its distinctive design and comfortable interiors, the XL6 offers a luxurious driving experience. Its versatile seating configuration and ample storage space make it ideal for family adventures. Equipped with advanced safety features and a fuel-efficient engine, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 combines practicality and performance. It stands out among Maruti Suzuki cars, providing a perfect blend of style, comfort, and versatility.
First introduced in 2019, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 gained popularity for its unique blend of SUV-like features and MPV practicality. Based on the most popular MPV, the Ertiga, the XL6 stands out with its premium features, captain seats in the middle row, and SUV-like body cladding.
There's no diesel engine option available with the XL6.
You get the familiar 1.5-litre K15 series engine which is good enough for 103bhp.
Earlier, there was only a five-speed manual transmission on offer.
Now you get a six-speed torque converter with the updated XL6 since April 2022.
This new gearbox also offers paddle shifters in the XL6.
It is now also offered with Maruti's factory-fitted CNG kit.
Available in three variants - Zeta, Alpha, and Alpha Plus - the XL6 offers a range of options to suit different customer preferences. All three variants are available with an automatic option.
With the XL6, you get an MPV practicality in an SUV stance. But it gets easy ingress and egress like an MPV, but with raised ground clearance and rugged body cladding all around. It also stands out with its signature grille and LED headlamp cluster.
Compared to the simple-looking Ertiga, the XL6 makes for a more premium offering if you want to impress.
If you buy the XL6, you will get a bold presence on the road with its SUV-inspired styling elements.
You get a muscular and commanding stance thanks to its robust body structure and carefully sculpted lines.
The front fascia features a prominent grille with chrome accents, while the LED projector headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs) add a touch of modernity.
Moving towards the side profile, the XL6's striking design is enhanced by the flared wheel arches, stylish alloy wheels, and sleek roof rails.
The floating roof design adds a sense of elegance and creates a visual contrast against the body colour.
At the rear, the XL6 boasts clear lens LED tail lamps.
In terms of colour options, you get Nexa Blue, Brave Khaki, Auburn Red, Magma Grey, Premium Silver, and Arctic White.
Step inside the XL6, and you'll find a premium and spacious cabin:
Compared to the standard bench seats, these captain seats offer enhanced comfort over long distances and easy access to the third row.
You also get plush upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wood-finished panels that elevate the luxurious feel of the cabin.
And the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system is the newest one Maruti Suzuki has on offer.
The plush upholstery and generous legroom ensure that all occupants can relax and enjoy the ride, even during long drives.
You'd love the leather-wrapped steering wheel, which adds the needed feel of luxury and provides a comfortable grip.
The wooden finish panels on the dashboard and door trims add elegance and improve the ambience as well.
In terms of storage and practicality, the XL6 offers ample space to accommodate the belongings of all passengers.
You'd find useful space like on the centre console storage box, bottle holders, and door pockets, allowing for easy organization and accessibility.
When it comes to cargo space, you won't be disappointed. It offers a generous 209 litres of boot space with the third row up.
It can be further expanded by folding down the third-row seats.
Being a modern-day Maruti Suzuki, the XL6 offers driver's engagement that we have become accustomed to. You'd find the XL6 is equally easy to drive as it is to live with.
The XL6’s K15 engine now gets a C in the name(replacing B).
This C denotes that the engine now comes with two injectors per cylinder and dual variable valve timing, while Maruti’s mild-hybrid with start-stop function is still offered.
Power output is 102bhp and 136Nm for both manual and automatic.
Similar to the K12C, you won't be able to guess the changes to the K15C over the K15B.
Behind the wheel, this four-cylinder engine is still refined and remains silent and vibration-free at idling.
While driving, there’s a good amount of push from the engine and the motor becomes more responsive once it moves over 2000rpm.
Driving in the city, you'd find the five-speed manual gearbox light with a progressive clutch and short gear throw.
Compared to the older four-speed, you'd find that the six-speed torque converter automatic is surely improved
If you drive it between 50-80kmph, the engine would be comfortably sitting at 1,500rpm.
As always, you'd find that the engine offers a smooth and responsive driving experience, whether you're navigating city streets or cruising on the highway.
You will also find the ride quality at slow speeds is well absorbent. And on the highway and the ride remains flat.
It also feels planted while doing triple-digit speed, so you can easily hold highway speeds when driving inter-city.
With the update, the XL6 has also received an improvement in the handling department.
You'd be happy to know that the steering returnability is improved.
It now goes more than three and a quarter turns lock-to-lock but remains light and easy at slow city speeds.
Yet it remains predictable and linear to drive.
Lastly, the brakes on the XL6 have also proved to be quite satisfactory, be it for everyday city commutes or highway excursions.
You know Maruti Suzuki cars are known for being fuel efficient, and the XL6 is no different.
Maruti Suzuki claims a fuel efficiency of 20.97kmpl for the manual version of the XL6
Whereas the petrol automatic is claimed to offer you 20.27kmpl.
But now there's also CNG on offer, which offers you a CNG tank of 60 litres and a mileage of 26.32km/kg.
