Volkswagen Golf GTI Pre-Bookings Begin in India: Hot Hatch Arriving Soon with 260hp Turbo Power

Volkswagen India has officially opened pre-bookings for the iconic Golf GTI, marking its entry into the Indian market. This high-performance hatchback will come fully loaded with premium features, a 260 hp turbo engine, and dynamic styling. It’s set to raise the bar for enthusiast cars under ₹50 lakh.

Volkswagen Golf GTI

The legendary Golf GTI is positioned to ignite the performance hatch sector in the country. Pre-bookings are open at 2.65 lakh. Although the launch date is still kept under wraps, sources indicate the full-loaded GTI could arrive at showroom floors within a matter of weeks, for the enthusiasts who have waited so long for the GTI's maiden entry on Indian soil.

Power-Packed Performance from a 2.0L Turbo Engine

Powering the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol mill, churning 260bhp and 370Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, the GTI is probably supposed to pool out acceleration with response-worthy actions.

Globally known for the nail-biting grip and razor-sharp steering, this hot hatch should find itself at home on twisties and the city grind.

Premium Features & Bold Styling

Golf GTI isn’t just a stereotype performance car that turns heads; it houses some premium features, too. You have to expect the likes of a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, wireless phone charging, and ambient lighting. Fairly important would be the seven airbags and the panoramic sunroof.

On the outside, 18-inch alloy wheels, red GTI badging, wrap-around LED tail-lamps, and an illuminated VW logo coupled with dual chrome exhausts to form a very purposeful yet sporty stance.

Dimensions and Practicality

Despite being performance-oriented, the GTI has an everyday usability side to it. Measuring 4,289mm in length, 1,789mm in width, and 1,471mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,627mm, the Golf GTI makes for a well-balanced practical proposition. It has a ground clearance of 136mm and a fuel tank that stores up to 45 litres, which is good for taking it around on the somewhat unforgiving Indian tarmac.

A Hot Hatch for the Driving Enthusiast

With the limited options in the performance hatchback space in India, Volkswagen Golf GTI is soon set to quickly become a niche favourite. Anticipation builds, and for petrolheads across the country, the GTI is shaping up to be one of the most exciting launches of 2025.
