Sunroof Craze Grips India: Every Second Hyundai Car Sold Features One

Their latest consumer preference insights detail how more than half of Hyundai Motor India's buyers are now purchasing sunroof-equipped variants. SUVs still continued to lead this body style selling and also brought in heightened activity among the ADAS feature variants, proving that consumers' expectations are rapidly evolving within the space of cars in India.

India's car owners are quickly embracing the trend of premium features and benefits in semi-prestige models. HMI is now observing this going on in India, as it says that over 53% of its new customers chose a variant with sunroof features, which has become one of the most sought-after features in its portfolio.

Thus, every second Hyundai is sold along with a sunroof-witnessing a radical change of consumer preference towards luxury features.

Hyundai's SUV set to head for Ghana India lineup

Hyundai's SUV leadership in India is totally beyond question. FY2023- 24 witnessed SUVs grabbing 68.5% of sales, which is almost 5% higher than the 63.2% in the previous fiscal year.

A considerable range of the much-liked Hyundai SUV models can be seen in the portfolio, which includes the bestsellers like Creta, Venue, Alcazar, Exter, Tucson, and the completely electric Ioniq 5.

And as the trend of Indian customers leans more to such feature rich and high riding vehicles, Hyundai seems to have grabbed hold of the opportunity well.

ADAS Demand More than Doubled

Hyundai's sales report also points out the increased demand for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Once found only in expensive models, such techy features are gaining a market pace so rapidly. For FY24-25, the proportion of sales of ADAS-equipped variants of Hyundai was 14.3%, more than twice the last year's 6.7%.

Currently, Hyundai provides nine models with ADAS features, thereby proving that such features are seen as first-of-its-kind technology in the segment.

Along with a requirement for fluidity for fitting individual driving preferences, the employees can work under Manual, iMT, AMT, Torque converter, DCT gearbox options available to them, although the powers of Hyundai's panoply of Choices continue to attract its customers through NA petrol, turbo-petrol, diesel, CNG, and EV engine configurations.

There seems to be an opening that Hyundai's sweet blend of technology, variety, and comfort attractions strikes in making an impression among Indian consumers, the sunroof fad, on the other hand, pushing even further this idea of changing taste among car buyers in India.
