Porsche Taycan RWD Launched in India at ₹1.67 Crore

Porsche’s Most Affordable Taycan Arrives in India at ₹1.67 Crore. The rear-wheel-drive Porsche Taycan offers 429 bhp, a single-motor setup, and an exhilarating 4.8-second 0-100 km/h time, making it an exciting entry-level EV.

The price of ₹1.67 crore (ex-showroom) has been set for the entry-level Taycan rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant in India. The EV sedan is cheaper by ₹24 lakh when compared to the Taycan 4S, which means it stands as the most basic Taycan in the lineup.

Porsche Taycan RWD Priced at ₹1.67 Crore – A More Affordable Entry to the Lineup

Porsche India has finally revealed pricing for the Taycan rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant, which has been mentioned on the brand's website for nearly a year. The Taycan RWD thus becomes Porsche's lowest-priced electric sports sedan variant at ₹1.67 crore (ex-showroom), being ₹24 lakh cheaper than the Taycan 4S.

The Taycan RWD was introduced in India after the facelifted Taycan 4S and Turbo were launched last year. It was publicly launched at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, proudly showcasing its sleek design and modernized performance-More Power, Same Porsche Thrill.

In contrast to the AWD Taycan 4S, the RWD variant uses a single-motor configuration to power only the rear wheels. The drivetrain beyond that, however, was tuned by Porsche to enhance performance, and thus the new RWD Taycan is now more powerful than the preceding RWD Taycan.

Power Output: 429 bhp (previously 402 bhp)

  • Torque Output: 410 Nm

  • 0-100 km/h Time: 4.8 seconds (0.6 seconds quicker than before)

These figures ensure that the Taycan RWD, despite being the base variant, still delivers exciting performance and the signature Porsche driving dynamics.

Battery and Range Options

While Porsche India has not yet confirmed the exact battery specifications for the Indian market, global versions of the Taycan RWD come with two battery pack options:

  • 89 kWh Battery Pack – Offers a range of up to 590 km

  • 105 kWh Battery Pack – Delivers over 670 km of range

These battery choices allow customers to balance performance with driving range, making the Taycan RWD an appealing option for those who want a practical yet powerful electric sedan.

Taycan RWD vs Taycan 4S – How Do They Compare?

The biggest difference between the Taycan RWD and Taycan 4S is the drivetrain layout. While the 4S features a dual-motor AWD setup, the RWD variant has one motor at the rear axle, making it lighter and slightly more agile.

However, the lower price tag of the Taycan RWD makes it an attractive option for buyers looking to experience Porsche's all-electric performance at a relatively lower cost.

Conclusion

For the die-hard Porsche fans wanting an electrifying luxury sedan but at a price lower than the AWD variants, it works. Although it does not feature the dual-motor setup, the 429 bhp output is certainly an attention grabber and a strong reason to entertain such a car.

While electric luxury cars find more and more buyers in the Indian market, the Taycan RWD provides a good mixture of performance, technology, and exclusivity. Porsche has not declared anything regarding batteries and range in the Indian market but looking at its global specifications, the Taycan RWD is predicted to attract all EV lovers and Porsche loyalists.
