Nissan is getting ready to bring five new cars to India. They'll have updated versions of their SUVs, like the Magnite, and a new SUV to compete with cars like the Creta. There's also a bigger SUV with seven seats and a smaller van with three rows of seats, similar to the Renault Triber. Plus, they're working on a low-cost electric car with Renault. These new cars will offer more choices for people looking to buy a Nissan in India.
Let's go through the five models and their features:
Magnite SUV Facelift: Expected in 2024, this revamped version of the Magnite will include improvements and a left-hand drive model to access new international markets. The Magnite SUV is currently the only Nissan model in India and is exported to several countries.
All-New SUV (Creta Rival): Scheduled to debut in 2025, this SUV will be based on the recently unveiled Duster. It will share similarities in platform, some interior features, and body panels with the Duster. Production is slated to happen alongside the new-gen Duster in Chennai and is aimed for export to various global markets.
Seven-Seat SUV: Another SUV, based on the Bigster SUV, is in the planning. This larger three-row SUV will come after the launch of the Creta rival.
Three-Row MPV: Nissan plans to introduce a compact MPV with three rows of seating, similar to the Renault Triber. Built alongside its Renault counterpart in Chennai, this MPV aims to cater to mass-market customers seeking a budget-friendly alternative to models like the Ertiga and Carens.
Entry-Level EV: Nissan, in collaboration with Renault, is developing an entry-level electric hatchback on the CMF-AEV platform. This hatchback will be a global product, and India is expected to receive versions from both Renault and Nissan.
Additionally, there are talks about testing the latest-generation X-Trail SUV in India, but it's uncertain when or if it will officially enter the market.
