The new generation Mercedes-Benz GLC has been spotted testing for the first time and the launch is scheduled for July with deliveries expected to commence in August.
The company has released images of the new generation GLC with camouflage. We can expect a lot of changes on the inside and out including new features, and a new MBUX system. The new Mercedes-Benz GLC is 4,716 mm long, 2,075 wide, and 1,640 mm tall.
The new model is 60 mm longer, and 4 mm shorter than the outgoing model. It has a wheelbase of 2,888 mm which is 15 mm longer than the previous model. The front and rear track widths have also been increased by 6 mm and 23 mm.
The new generation Mercedes-Benz GLC gets a wider grille flanked by angular headlamps and sleek eyebrow-style DRLs. The front and rear bumper have been redesigned to give it a sporty look. Other mentions include door-mounted ORVMs, triangular taillamps, and a new set of alloy wheels. The interiors have been tweaked for a fresh look, the dashboard houses a 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest MBUX system and biometric authentication, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a new steering wheel, new air-con vents, and a wireless charging pad among others.
The feature list includes a new off-road driving mode with a ‘transparent bonnet’ feature, it uses the 360-degree camera to show a live feed of the ground. Other mentions include 64-colour ambient lighting, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, LED headlamps, Burmester sound system, ADAS, and gesture control to name a few.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC upon launch is likely to come with both petrol and diesel powertrain equipped with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system as a standard across all variants. The outgoing Mercedes-Benz GLC retails at a starting price of Rs. 72 lakh (ex-showroom). We can expect the new generation to have a price tag that will make it dearer by Rs. 3-4 lakh. Upon launch, it will lock horns with the likes of the Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Lexus NX and BMW X3 to name a few.
