Audi has finally confirmed that the sixth-generation model of the A6 luxury sedan will be unveiled for sale worldwide on April 15. The German giants have teased the new generation Audi A6 sedan in anticipation of its imminent arrival since last month in a shot offering a faint outline into the alpha setting of the car's rear profile design.
The A6 sedan will come after the A6 Avant, which is the estate derivative of the car that had a global debut last month.
As seen in the teaser, a portion of the rear window is visible and appears to have short rear deck proportions defined for the boot lid, much like the A6 e-tron Sportback, hinting that the new Audi A6 sedan gets one four-door coupe-like profile.
Common taillight design elements remain unchanged from the Avant, featuring a split design with the main stop light at the top of a light bar; however, the internals appear to differ slightly from those of the Avant. Expect the tail lights to boast configurable lighting signatures thanks to OLED tech.
While the sixth-gen Audi A6 will inherit most of the design elements from the Audi A6 Avant unveiled in March 2025, quite a lot of design differentiators will come into play. The roofline will have the most significant change compared with the Avant, imparting more stout three-box sedan proportions. Other styling elements would include a massive Audi grille, sharp headlamps, flared fenders, pronounced rear haunches, and flush-fitting door handles.
The inside of the Audi A6 sedan will remain largely unchanged, though possibly with a new dashboard and up to three displays. It can be expected to have the same tech suite that should be available with the A6 Avant. A panoramic glass roof, B&O sound system, ADAS, adaptive air suspension, and so forth are likely to feature.
As for the powertrain, the new Audi A6 sedan would be shared by all engine choices for the A6 Avant. The sedan would have a number of mild hybrids and petrol and diesel engines from four cylinders to six. Audi has made no announcement regarding the new-generation A6 sedan introduction in India. However, expect the new-generation luxury sedan to reach Indian shores pretty much in 2026.
