The sixth generation A6 sedan is now introduced into the market by Audi, after the presentation of its Avant estate sibling. Based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) of Volkswagen Group, the new A6 is not a mere refresh but low-slung, high-tech leap forward and, in fact, Audi's most aerodynamically optimized internal combustion engine (ICE) car at a drag coefficient of just 0.23.
Sharper Lines with Broader Dimensions
The latest A6 sedan stretches 60mm longer and measures 3mm wider in wheelbase compared to its predecessor. Its striking front face has angular LED headlamps, an enormous honeycomb grille, and sharper bumper lines, presenting it with commanding road presence. Muscular fenders with optional up to 23-inch alloy wheels add to the sporty elegance when viewed from the side. The tailgate also imparts a fine fluidity to the rear design, facilitating aerodynamics while adding strength, since it is made of steel.
Connected LED taillights with their sequential indicators and dual chromed exhaust setup give the car a sporty look, and as the designs make it functional, it is combined with features such as a rounded rear and lower drag profile.
Tri-Display High-Tech Interior
The layout of the A6 sedan is just like the one found in the Avant, and that includes what could be called a very tech-laden cabin, allowing up to three digital displays. The main show is a 14.5-inch curved touchscreen running Android Automotive OS, with integrated ChatGPT functionality for voice-based commands. Two other optional screens include the 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and the 10.9-inch passenger display.
Premium feature contents include ambient lighting courtesy of 84 LEDs; dazzling Bang & Olufsen sound system; soft-close doors; a panoramic sunroof featuring smart glass, and a 4-zone climate control system.
Further, Audi has enhanced the cabin refinement by upgrading materials and improving the sound insulation by about 30%.
Powertrains and Driving Dynamics
Powertrain options include a very mild 2.0L turbo-petrol with 204 hp, a 204 hp 2.0L diesel, and a stonking 367 hp 3.0L V6 turbo-petrol - all mild-hybrids. The entry-level petrol is a front-wheel-drive model, while the diesel and V6 may be optioned with quattro AWD. Pace ahead, and the fastest variant can achieve 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.
This is all sitting on a new 5-link aluminium suspension, with adaptive air suspension available - a first, now operable via voice command.
Launch and Competition
In summer 2025, the new Audi A6 will be launched worldwide, with deliveries commencing in that season for the global markets. The new Audi A6 will become a rival to the refreshed BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class models once it is launched in India. Such competition will be faced with striking looks, new tech, and more refined power.
