Maruti Suzuki Escudo India launch - Major Facts and Details

Maruti Suzuki is in a readiness stage to introduce the all-new Escudo SUV in India, which will have mainly three row seats and will come with chassis type, 1.5 litre petrol engine and the price will be competitive under Rs 15 lakh. It will be sold through Arena dealerships and will sit under Brezza in the expanding range of SUVs of the brand.

Maruti Suzuki Escudo sunset profile

The Escudo is going to be another SUV added to the growing collection of SUVs by Maruti Suzuki. Having the Brezza as a direct competitor, the Escudo will be positioned under the former and will offer three-row seating, large interiors, and good affordability to customers who demand practicality and affordability.

Recent sightings of test mules and trademark filing of the Escudo brand name have proved that the new model will be sold using the Arena dealerships of Maruti. It will also be aimed at families who want to have more room in their cabins without overstretching their budgets to the higher SUVs.

Engine and Performance Expectations

Mechanically, the Escudo will likely share the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine used by the Brezza today. This engine produces approximately 101 hp and 139 Nm of torque with either a 5-speed manual or 6 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Although not confirmed as yet, hybrid and CNG versions may be available upon demand with time, although Maruti may not limit itself to that.

Equipment and Characteristics

Even though the Escudo is a low-priced SUV, it should be armed to the teeth, at least in upper models.

Customers may also anticipate finding modern equipment, including:

  • Heads-up display (HUD)

  • Electric sunroof

  • Touchscreen 9-inch infotainment system

  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • 360-degree camera

  • Audio system arkamys-tuned

  • Suzuki Connect telematics (Suzuki Connect is the brand name of a range of cars developed by Suzuki with telematics)

  • Such additions may make Escudo one of the most feature-heavy cars in its segment.

Launch Schedule and Costs

Maruti is yet to officially announce the date when it will bring in the Mirage; however, it is said that the car will be launched in the festive season, probably in September 2025.

The pricing is likely to be in the range of Rs 9 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), and it will also be a formidable competitor to the Renault Triber and the cheapest versions of mid-size SUVs.

Conclusion

The Escudo may also turn out to be another volume leader to the Maruti Suzuki as it is a balanced car to offer a good mix of space, features, and value. Its three-row configuration makes it affordable and ready to serve the market needs of the many families, who would want to buy a car of this size, but not at an exorbitant price. Watch out as Maruti unveils even more within these weeks.
