Maruti Ciaz Says Goodbye to India – But Could It Return in a New Avatar?

The Maruti Ciaz is gone after a decade, but whispers of a comeback in a fresh avatar—like an SUV or hatchback—have fans buzzing. Here’s the scoop on its exit and future!

Maruti Ciaz has decided to discontinue its services as of April 7, 2025; the sedan that ruled Indian roads for over a decade will no longer be seen ruling the roads anymore. But, wait, it could be just a rumor that's buzzing around. It might make a comeback, but probably in a different style.

Why Did Maruti Pull the Plug?

Launched in 2014, the Ciaz was a fan favorite with its sleek looks and solid performance. But times change, and so do car trends. Maruti recently confirmed the news with a statement that’s got everyone talking. A spokesperson said, “Ciaz is still a strong name in our lineup, but we’re always tweaking things based on what customers want, new rules, and market vibes.” They even hinted, “When a brand’s this big, it can switch forms!”

Sounds familiar? Think Baleno! It started as a sedan in 1996, took a break in 2007, and roared back as a hatchback in 2015. Could the Ciaz pull off a similar glow-up? We’re keeping our fingers crossed!

A Quick Look Back at the Maruti Ciaz

The Ciaz wasn’t just any car—it was a vibe! It got a facelift in 2018 and a tech upgrade in 2020 to meet BS6 engine rules. It features LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Inside, it rocked a black-and-beige look, auto AC, cruise control, and a 6-speaker sound system. Safety? - Two airbags, a rear camera, and auto headlights kept it solid.

Under the hood, it packed a 1.5-litre petrol engine pumping out 105 PS power and 138 Nm torque. You could pick between a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic, with mileage hitting 20.65 kmpl (manual) and 20.04 kmpl (auto). Pretty sweet, right?

Price Tag and Rivals

Before it waved goodbye, the Ciaz was priced between Rs 9.42 lakh and Rs 12.31 lakh (ex-showroom). It went head-to-head with big names like the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia in the compact sedan game. Tough competition, but the Ciaz held its own!

Overall, the Maruti Ciaz may be off the market, but its legacy lives on. So, is this the end? Maybe not! Maruti’s hinting at a possible comeback—think Ciaz as an SUV or hatchback. Imagine a rugged Ciaz tearing up the roads in a new body style!
