West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee encountered a minor car accident on Wednesday while returning from Bardhaman to Kolkata, sustaining minor injuries to her head. The incident occurred as her convoy navigated adverse weather conditions, with a sudden appearance of another vehicle leading to an abrupt braking manoeuvre by her driver.
Banerjee, who was in Bardhaman to chair an administrative review meeting, recounted the incident to the media after receiving medical attention. She expressed gratitude towards her driver for his swift reaction, stating, "While we were on our way, a vehicle came from the other side and was about to dash into my car; I wouldn’t have survived if my driver had not pressed the brakes. Due to sudden braking, I hit the dashboard and got a little injured. I am safe because of the blessings of people."
The Trinamool Congress chief, known for her robust political presence, reassured the public of her safety despite the ordeal. Banerjee was promptly transported back to Kolkata for further medical assessment and treatment following the accident.
The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of road travel, particularly amidst adverse weather conditions. Banerjee's quick recovery and acknowledgement of her driver's role highlight the importance of alertness and skilful driving in averting potential roadway disasters.
