With the upcoming launch of its latest SUV concept, Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to make an important announcement during Independence Day by unsheathing its next-gen SUV concept called the Vision.T.
Mahindra is all set to launch its newest SUV concept on an Independence Day event to be held in Mumbai on August 15, 2025, and this next-gen SUV will also preview the Freedom NU platform, which is a flexible architecture able to accommodate ICE, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains.
Though official information is still being concealed, teaser videos have already caused industry-wide and fan speculation. The silhouette alludes to a flamboyant, off-road-inspired SUV, and most people suspect that this concept may indeed be a sneak preview of the Thar EV. But some other people suppose it could be the Scorpio EV preview or even a global Scorpio pickup preview. Its name can only be officially revealed.
Freedom NU Platform: The Future of Mahindra SUVs
This is a strategic move by Mahindra to future-proof its SUV lineup as it introduces the Freedom NU platform. This modular design will form the foundation of a diverse future of Mahindra models, such as the next-gen Bolero, Bolero EV and range-extenders.
The flexibility of the platform will mean that Mahindra can be quick to adapt to the changes in the market be it naturally inclined to the electrified cars or the conventional fuels.
Mahindra Wider EV and SUV Strategy
Aside from the Vision.T, Mahindra is also increasing its efforts on electrification. In late 2025, the company will introduce the XEV 7e, a 7-seater electric sports utility vehicle on the basis of the XEV 9e. It also has the XUV 3XO hybrid, and the refreshed versions of Thar and XUV700 are lined up.
Otherwise, the Bolero Neo facelift is also planned to be released the same day as the Vision.T, and the new-gen Bolero and Bolero EV are planned to be released in 2026.
Having an expanding catalogue of EVs, hybrids, and ICE SUVs, Mahindra is aiming at a diversified future, and the Vision.T concept may become the next giant step in that direction.
