The new Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai was inaugurated on October 14, 2023, by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. This is a significant milestone in the ongoing transition of the brand as a global design leader. This modern structure is more than just a bigger space; it is a living testimony to Mahindra's unwavering commitment to creating design excellence in the Auto, Farm and Last Mile Mobility (LMM) Businesses.
Design Space Is Twice as Big with Twice the Impact
Established in 2015, the Mahindra India Design Studio has now been given twice the space in. With the latest refurbishment, the studio is now equipped with advanced design facilities, tools, and equipment using cutting-edge technologies that allow Mahindra to smoothly carry out the whole design process, from the very first concept sketch to the final model ready for production. 'This new avatar of MIDS is more than a workspace; it's a powerhouse that can deliver across our expanding business portfolio,' says Ajay Saran Sharma, Senior Vice President and Head of MIDS. 'In order to strengthen the end-to-end design delivery, new functional teams have been set up: HMI Design, Design Quality, and Realisation.'
Setting the Magnet for Global Talent and Design Leadership
In Pratap Bose's words as chief design and creative officer of Mahindra, MIDS has a global intent: "This facility will not only shape the future of our vehicles but also attract the best design minds in the country." It will become a bridge for ferrying designs between MIDS in Mumbai and the MADE in the U.K., thereby ensuring smooth design flow and global collaboration.
Dare to Design Future
This appears to be the time when strategic expansion occurs, as futuristic electric SUVs from Mahindra-BE 6 and XUV 9e have made a mark with a strikingly global design ethos. These creations proclaim a five-star quality and cutting-edge innovation with that Indian DNA-first cabbage, mouth-watering aesthetics; just what new-age philosophy that is pioneered from Mahindra indigenously.
MIDS appears to up to the hilt on taking Mahindra into the realm of world design; it would be working on its next-generation EVs and other mobility solutions of Indian origin while competing as well as leading in the world.
