Kia EV6 Gets a Budget-Friendly Makeover with New Base Version

Kia EV6 Air: New Budget-Friendly Base Model Launched

Kia EV6

Kia has rolled out some really exciting news for its loyal customers, which is all dedicated to making electric driving more affordable. It has unveiled a new base version of their hit electric SUV, the Kia EV6, called the ‘Air.’

This model is designed to bring long-term integration between the eco-friendly vibes and practicality of the EV6 to a wider audience without breaking the bank.

Affordable Price, Impressive Features

The EV6 Air is priced at just GBP 39,235 on-road in the UK, which is about Rs. 43.89 Lakh, a significant drop when compared to the higher-end EV6 trims, making it an impeccable option for price-conscious buyers. This move by Kia seems to be a clear signal: electric mobility is for everyone, not just those with deep pockets.

The EV6 Air comes equipped with a 663 kWh battery, which might be smaller than the batteries in other EV6 models. Based on the WLTP standard, it still delivers a solid range of up to 426 kilometers on a single charge.

Performance That Packs a Punch

Under the hood, the EV6 Air features a single rear electric motor that has almost 167 horsepower, which can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.7 seconds.

Sure, it’s not going to outrun a sports car, but it’s smooth, responsive, and perfect for navigating urban streets or cruising on the highway.

Plus, it’s built on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the rest of the EV6 lineup, so you’re getting the same sleek design, spacious interior, and high-quality build that have made the EV6 a fan favorite.

Lightning-Fast Charging

One of the standout features of the EV6 Air is its 800V ultra-fast charging capability, a rarity in this price range. Plug it into a 350kW DC charger, and you can go from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes—faster than it takes to grab a coffee and a snack.

If you’re using a more common 50kW DC charger, it’ll take about 58 minutes for the same charge, which is still pretty impressive for an electric SUV.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the charging times:

Charger TypeCharging Time (10% to 80%)
350kW DC18 minutes
50kW DC58 minutes

This fast-charging tech makes the EV6 Air a practical choice for those who want to hit the road without long pit stops, even if they don’t have access to the fastest chargers.

Why the EV6 Air Stands Out

What’s cool about this base version is that it doesn’t feel like a stripped-down model. You still get the head-turning design that makes the EV6 look like it just rolled out of a sci-fi movie, along with a tech-filled cabin that’s both practical and comfortable.

Who’s It For?

The EV6 Air is designed for urban drivers or first-time EV buyers, or anyone who wishes to go completely without emptying their wallet. If you don’t need the longest range or all-wheel-drive performance of the higher trims, this base model offers everything you need to enjoy the benefits of electric driving.

Kia’s decision to introduce this budget-friendly version of the EV6 is a big step toward making electric vehicles more accessible, as we can see the rise in fuel prices and growing awareness of environmental issues, more people are considering EVs, and the EV6 Air makes that transition easier.

Overall, if you always looked forward to switching to an EV but always stepped back because of the cost, the new Kia EV6 Air might just be the push you need. It’s proof that you don’t have to spend a fortune to drive a stylish, practical, and eco-friendly car.
