India’s SUV Week: Sierra & XEV 9S Hit the Market, Amaze Scores Big

The long-awaited comeback of the Tata Sierra with a new design and updated powertrain options was the main development this week in India's automotive scene. With the introduction of the three-row XEV 9S, which is marketed as an affordable family-friendly EV SUV, Mahindra expanded its line of electric vehicles. In the meantime, the Honda Amaze demonstrated excellent safety performance, earning top scores in the most recent B-NCAP tests. When taken as a whole, these changes show the nation's increasing trend toward safer and more sophisticated automobiles.

  • The new Tata Sierra and Mahindra XEV 9S SUVs' launch and price in India.

  • The Honda Amaze's recent crash test safety rating results.

Reviving an Icon: The Tata Sierra Arrives at the Showroom

This week marked the official return of the eagerly anticipated Tata Sierra, which is priced at an introductory ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). In an effort to appeal to a wide spectrum of consumers in the mid-size SUV market, the new Sierra is available in numerous variations and with three distinct powertrain options.

In order to better grasp how the Sierra will compare to its competitors, auto watchers are waiting for the costs of the remaining variants, even if just the beginning price has been disclosed thus far.

Mahindra Switches to Electric Vehicles as XEV 9S Joins the Race

The introduction of the Mahindra XEV 9S, a three-row, seven-seater battery-powered SUV, was the biggest news in the electric SUV market. The starting price for the base model is ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

The XEV 9S is unique because it combines a usable third row, a conventional SUV design, and several battery options (59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh), allowing owners flexibility based on their needs. The 9S, which is positioned beneath the current XEV 9e, is intended to compete with both more recent electric competitors and well-known ICE SUVs.

Safety First: Honda Amaze Receives the Best Rating in B-NCAP

Regarding safety, the Honda Amaze, a small sedan, passed the most recent phase of crash testing. With a score of 28.33 out of 32, it received a five-star rating in the adult occupant protection category.

It received a four-star rating (40.81 out of 49) for child occupant protection. These findings apply to both manual and CVT versions of the V, VX, and ZX models, making Amaze a noteworthy option for consumers who prioritize safety.

What's Up Next

In the future, it will be clear how competitive the new SUV will be when the whole pricing list of the remaining Sierra models is released. The introduction of the XEV 9S puts additional pressure on competitors looking to increase their EV offerings in India's quickly changing market. Additionally, Amaze's new crash-test score may have an impact on judgments made by customers of compact cars who value safety.
