Hyundai Exter Gets New Variants with More Features & CNG Power
Hyundai has expanded the Exter lineup for 2025 by introducing new variants across petrol and CNG options. With prices ranging from ₹7.73 lakh to ₹9.53 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated lineup offers more features and a wider range of choices for buyers. This move comes just as Tata has introduced major updates to its Punch SUV, keeping the subcompact SUV segment competitive.
What’s New in the Exter?
Hyundai has introduced three new trims: S, S+, and SX Tech, with updates in both petrol and CNG variants.
Hyundai Exter S – More Features for Entry-Level Buyers

Reverse parking camera for better visibility
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Hill Start Assist for added safety
15-inch styled steel wheels
8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with phone mirroring
These updates make the S variant more appealing for buyers looking for an affordable yet feature-packed compact SUV.
Hyundai Exter S+ – Added Convenience and Comfort
Priced ₹20,000 above the S variant, the S+ trim adds key premium features such as:
Electric sunroof for an airy cabin experience
Rear AC vents for better passenger comfort
Power-adjustable ORVMs
These additions make the S+ a great value-for-money upgrade for buyers who want a bit more comfort and convenience.
Hyundai Exter SX Tech – The Most Feature-Rich Variant
For those looking for the most premium experience, the SX Tech variant offers a ₹58,000 upgrade over the S+ variant. It includes:
Push-button start for keyless convenience
Dual dashcam setup for added security and recording drives
Automatic climate control for superior comfort
Rear AC vents for enhanced cooling
Projector headlamps for better night visibility
Additionally, Hyundai has introduced CNG powertrain options for the S and S+ Executive variants, further expanding the Exter’s fuel-efficient choices.
Powertrain Options – Petrol and CNG Choices
The Hyundai Exter continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces:
82 bhp and 113 Nm of torque in petrol mode
68 bhp and 95 Nm of torque in CNG mode
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the petrol variant also gets a 5-speed AMT for automatic convenience.
Hyundai’s Vision for the Exter
Speaking about the updates, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India, stated:
"With the launch of new variants and updates to our two key models – EXTER and AURA – we aim to offer the best value proposition to our customers. I am confident that these new enhancements will resonate well with our customers and elevate their driving experience even further."
A Stronger Contender in the Compact SUV Segment
With the introduction of new variants and a wider feature set, Hyundai has ensured that the Exter remains a strong competitor in the compact SUV segment. The addition of CNG variants also caters to buyers looking for fuel-efficient alternatives.
By continuously refining and enhancing its offerings, Hyundai is making sure that the Exter stays ahead of its rivals, including the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
With competitive pricing and an expanded feature list, the Hyundai Exter is now a more compelling choice for buyers looking for a well-equipped, fuel-efficient, and stylish compact SUV.
