Mercedes E-Class Estate Spotted in India – Is a Launch on the Cards?
Mercedes-Benz has consistently introduced new models in India to cater to the growing luxury car market. The latest vehicle spotted on Indian roads is the E-Class Estate, sparking speculation about its potential launch. While estate cars have never gained mainstream popularity in India, this model could offer a unique blend of luxury, practicality, and performance for discerning buyers.
Design and Exterior Features
The E-Class Estate maintains the elegant design and premium appeal associated with Mercedes-Benz. It features the brand’s signature grille with three-pointed star motifs, sleek LED headlights, and chrome garnishes. Unlike the rugged All-Terrain version, the spotted model lacks body cladding, emphasizing its urban luxury appeal.
On the sides, the estate silhouette is highlighted by flush door handles, a tapering roofline, and sporty alloy wheels. Buyers may have the option of 19-inch standard alloys or 20-inch AMG Line wheels for a sportier look. At the rear, the star-pattern LED tail lamps, roof-mounted spoiler, and chrome-finished exhausts add to its sophisticated styling.
Premium Interior and Advanced Features
Inside, the E-Class Estate offers a luxurious and tech-laden cabin, similar to its sedan counterpart. Key highlights include:
14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with MBUX AI integration
12.3-inch customizable driver display
64-color ambient lighting
Ventilated front seats with massage function
Panoramic sunroof
Air purifier with aromatherapy
In terms of safety and driver assistance, the Estate comes equipped with:
Seven airbags
ADAS suite with Blind Spot Assist and Exit Warning
Surround-view camera with Parktronic active parking assist
Pre-Safe occupant protection system
Car-to-car communication for enhanced road safety
Powertrain Options and Market Speculation
Globally, the Mercedes E-Class Estate comes with multiple engine options. The model spotted in India is the E300 variant, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. In international markets, the E450 variant is available with a 3.0-litre inline-6 turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system.
Since the spotted model is not the All-Terrain version, it lacks dedicated off-road capabilities, making it more suited for urban and highway driving.
Will Mercedes Launch the E-Class Estate in India?
Estate cars have never been a major success in the Indian luxury segment, with previous models like the E-Class All-Terrain struggling to gain traction. While the E-Class sedan continues to be one of Mercedes-Benz’s best-selling models in India, the estate version’s launch remains uncertain.
However, if launched, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate could be positioned in the ₹90 lakh to ₹1 crore price range (ex-showroom). This would make it an attractive option for buyers looking for a luxury car with added practicality and cargo space.
With Mercedes-Benz achieving record-breaking sales in India in 2024, the brand’s strategy of launching diverse models could mean that the E-Class Estate might just make its way to Indian showrooms.
