The Exter, a new mini SUV from Hyundai Motor India that will go on sale in the middle of 2023 and be targeted at the young Gen Z market, was just given a name. The Exter, already seen doing test drives in India, represents outdoor sports, leisure, and travel.
The sub-compact SUV will be constructed on Hyundai's K1 platform, also utilised for the Grand i10 Nios. The sub-compact SUV is anticipated to draw design cues from the global model Casper while retaining its own distinctive personality. In contrast to previous Hyundai vehicles, the Exter is expected to offer a variety of features despite being an entry-level SUV.
The Exter micro SUV is expected to have a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 82 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. This engine will reportedly be paired with a five-speed manual gearbox or an automated manual transmission (AMT). Hyundai still needs to release the Exter's powertrain specifications. Hyundai might also provide a tweaked version of the Venue model's 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Whether this option will be offered at launch has yet to be discovered.
With the introduction of the brand-new Hyundai Exter, Hyundai will make its smallest SUV available in the Indian market. The Venue, Creta, Alcazar, Kona EV, Tucson, and Ioniq 5 are the other SUVs currently offered by Hyundai, the Creta, Alcazar, and the Tucson. The Exter will fight against other well-known sub-compact SUVs, including the Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite, and Citroen C3 and is anticipated to start at Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Exter is designed to attract younger customers in the Indian market with its low price point. Despite its entry-level positioning, the Exter is anticipated to offer many features, continuing with Hyundai's reputation for building feature-rich automobiles.
Hyundai Motor India's COO, Tarun Garg, took great delight in revealing the name of the company's newest SUV, the Hyundai Exter, designed to appeal to the younger Gen Z generation. The Exter, according to Garg, is created to offer an intelligent mobility option that satisfies the wanderlust of these youthful buyers.
Hyundai now offers eight SUV models in its inventory thanks to the Exter, and the business is sure that this new family member will help increase their sales in the SUV market. The news is consistent with Hyundai's track record for building cars that appeal to various buyers with different wants and tastes.
