Government Demand Three States To Register Only Cng And E Autos From January One

Government Demand 3 States To Register Only CNG And E-Autos From January 1

In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, the government mandates three states to register only Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric autos starting January 1. This directive aligns with the push for cleaner fuel alternatives, reducing emissions and promoting eco-friendly mobility. As India takes strides towards a greener future, this policy signals a commitment to fostering the adoption of CNG and electric vehicles, contributing to environmental conservation and addressing air quality concerns in the specified states.

PTI news agency reported the Central government asked Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to phase out diesel autos by the end of 2026. The air quality panel also asked these states to resume registration for only CNG and e-autos in Delhi from January 1st, 2023.

As per the resources, the commission of Air Quality Management passed an order on Wednesday, mentioning that the target is to operate only CNG and e-autos from January 1st 2027. Considering that NCR covers Delhi, eight districts of Uttar Pradesh, 14 districts of Haryana, and two districts of Rajasthan.

This decision was taken because of the poor category of smog witnessed on Wednesday, where the Air Quality Index in the NCR stayed at 332. Besides this, the air quality continued to remain poor in November.

General Secretary of Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh, Rajendra Soni, said that government should deliver subsidies to auto drivers to help them shift to CNG and electric autos. He further added, “The BJP government is in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, and we are hopeful that they will do it.”

The no-diesel run auto system is presently registered in Delhi, and the Delhi Transport Department launched a scheme last year in October for the registration of 4,261 e-autos. Hence, from January 1st, 2027, all the autorickshaws in the Delhi NCR will run on CNG or electricity.
