Government Announces Major Rule Change Towards Fastag

Government announces major rule change towards FASTag.

The Maharashtra Cabinet has declared that all vehicles in the state must have a FASTag starting on April 1, 2025. Every car is given a FASTag, which is provided by practically all Indian banks. You will also need to obtain a FASTag for the vehicle you purchase. You won't be allowed to operate your vehicle till then.

Change towards FASTag

What is FASTag?

A tiny RFID incorporated tag/sticker called FASTag enables drivers to pay tolls instantly. This tag, which is attached to the driver's bank account, is put on the car's windscreen. The toll is automatically taken out of the associated account each time the car enters a toll plaza. Because the car doesn't have to stop at the toll booth, this technique saves time.

Benefits of a FASTag

The following are the benefits of a FASTag-:

  • Convenience: At any toll plaza, you can utilize the FASTag without stopping to make your payment.

  • Fuel Saving: Since the vehicles don't have to stop, it saves both time and fuel.

Where Should FASTag be Installed?

Installing FASTag in an easily readable area is recommended. The windshield - the car's front glass, is the ideal location for this. Drivers won't have to wait in line as this placement guarantees that the camera can readily scan the tag.

Remarkable Changes In FASTag

The "One Vehicle, One FASTag" campaign was introduced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on April 1, 2024. In response to allegations of infractions, this attempts to guarantee adherence to the required KYC procedure and stop the abuse of several FASTags for a single vehicle.
