Ferrari has launched the 296 GTS in India for Rs. 6.24 crore. It is essentially the soft-top version of the 296 GTB with a slight tweak in the name for the Indian market.
The 296 GTS uses a 2.9-litre, V6 coupled with an electric motor with an eight-speed DCT capable of delivering a further 164 bhp of power, it pushes a massive 830 bhp of total power output and a whopping 740 Nm of torque at 6250 rpm.
The Ferrari 296 GTS is 4565 mm long, 1958 mm wide, 1191 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2600 mm. It tips the scales at 1540 kg and has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.86 kg/bhp. And it has a fuel tank of 65 litres and a boot space of 49 litres. The Ferrari 295 GTS comes shod with 20-inch wheels. The car has a top speed of 330 kmph, and a 0-100 dash can be done in a claimed 2.9 seconds.
The design remains the same as of the 296 GTB except for a few tweaks to integrate the convertible roof. The roof is accommodated inside the engine housing and it can be closed and opened in just 14 seconds while under the speed of 45 kmph. When it comes to electric nannies, the 296 GTS comes with a bevvy of electronic suite that intervenes at the right time to make an amateur look like a pro, in other words, it is loaded to the gills.
The car has been launched for Rs. 6.24 crore, the Ferrari 296 GTB retails at Rs. 5.40 crore. The car locks horns with the likes of the McLaren 720S Spider.
