FASTag Annual Pass Launch: ₹3,000 for Effortless Year-Round Travel

Starting August 15, 2025, the FASTag Annual Pass offers private vehicle owners a simple prepaid toll plan at ₹3,000, granting up to 200 toll-free trips or year-long access on national highways, whichever is earlier, to save money, time, and stress during frequent highway journeys.

The government is set to roll out the FASTag Annual Pass from August 15, 2025, aimed at making highway travel easier and more cost-effective for private vehicle users.

The annual FASTag pass is priced at ₹3,000. This one-year prepaid plan allows up to 200 toll-free trips or unlimited access for a year, whichever comes first. This initiative is designed to reduce congestion at toll plazas, promote digital payments, and bring significant savings for frequent travelers.

What Is the FASTag Annual Pass?

The FASTag Annual Pass is a prepaid toll package linked to a vehicle’s existing FASTag. Once activated, eligible non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans can pass through national highway and expressway toll plazas without per-trip charges until either 200 trips are used or one year elapses from activation.

The scheme builds on the existing FASTag system to offer a simpler, upfront payment model for regular commuters.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for getting the annual FASTag are as follows:

  • Only private, non-commercial vehicles with an active and properly affixed FASTag linked to a valid registration number can apply.

  • Vehicles must not be blacklisted or involved in any toll disputes.

  • The pass is not available for commercial vehicles like taxis, buses, or trucks.

  • Before applying, users should ensure their FASTag is in good standing and associated with the correct vehicle registration.

Key Benefits

The FASTag pass is expected to bring the following benefits for the travelers:

  • Cost Savings: Frequent highway users can save up to 50–70% compared to paying tolls per trip. For many commuters, the ₹3,000 fee is significantly lower than the cumulative toll charges over a year.

  • Time Efficiency: By eliminating repeated payment steps, the pass helps reduce waiting time at toll booths, especially during peak travel seasons and holidays.

  • Cashless Convenience: The prepaid model reinforces digital payment adoption, minimising disputes and the hassle of maintaining individual toll balances.

  • Predictable Budgeting: A fixed annual fee helps users plan travel expenses without worrying about fluctuating toll costs.

How to Apply Online

Though the Annual FASTag is expected to be launch in the coming months, however, the process to get this pass is estimated to be as follows:

  1. Check FASTag Status: Confirm your FASTag is active, correctly affixed, and linked to the right registration number.

  2. Visit Official Platforms: Apply via the NHAI website. Some portals under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) may also host the application link.

  3. Enter Vehicle Details: Provide the vehicle registration number, FASTag ID, and other required information.

  4. Make Payment: Complete the ₹3,000 payment through secure online modes. On successful payment, the annual pass will get activated automatically.

  5. Confirmation Alerts: Users receive SMS or email notifications confirming activation and the balance of trips remaining.

Early application is advisable, especially ahead of holiday seasons, to ensure seamless travel when demand spikes.
In summary, the FASTag Annual Pass is a welcome move for private vehicle owners who frequently travel on national highways. By offering a prepaid model at ₹3,000, it simplifies toll payments, cuts waiting times, and delivers notable savings. As August 15, 2025, approaches, eligible users should verify their FASTag status and apply early to enjoy hassle-free journeys throughout the year.
