Bookings for the Suzuki Jimny Nomade to resume in January 2026, with a four-year waiting period.

Suzuki has declared that reservations for the five-door Jimny Nomade in Japan will begin on January 30, 2026, following a brief halt due to excessive demand. However, due to supply and export restrictions, including the fact that the model is manufactured in India and sent abroad, prospective purchasers are being cautioned that waiting times could reach four years.

Bookings for the Jimny Nomade, the five-door variant of the well-known off-road vehicle, will resume in Japan on January 30, 2026, according to Suzuki. Following a brief halt earlier this year due to excessive demand that greatly outpaced manufacturing capacity, the decision was made.

The Jimny Nomade, which Maruti Suzuki manufactures in India and exports all over the world, has been a significant export success for the company, particularly in South America, Japan, and Australia.

Demand Rises, Waiting Time Approaches Four Years

When the Jimny Nomade was introduced in Japan in April 2025, more than 50,000 reservations were made in just four days, prompting Suzuki to briefly halt orders. The waiting time now lasts up to four years, even though output has increased from 1,200 to 3,300 units each month.

The model's major market is still Japan, where demand greatly outpaces local allocations. It's interesting to see that although interest worldwide is growing, sales in India are still very low.

What the Jimny Nomade Gives You

Here is a condensed summary of the main attributes:

  • Engine: 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline with about 102 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque.

  • 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions are available.

  • Drivetrain and chassis: Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system (which includes low-range transfer gear and part-time 4WD) and a 3-link rigid-axle suspension are installed on a ladder-frame chassis.

  • Off-road geometry: 210 mm of ground clearance; 36° approach, 46° departure, and 24° break-over angles.

  • Features and safety: Brake limited-slip differential, hill-hold, hill-descent control, ESP, and standard six airbags. ADAS elements (adaptive cruise, dual-camera brake support) have been added to the Japan specification.

Things Buyers Need to Know

Interested purchasers should be aware of the longer delivery timeframe and potential price changes over time when bookings reopen. Waiting times may be further impacted by logistics and export considerations because the model is manufactured in India and delivered outside.

The Suzuki Jimny Nomade's genuine 4x4 personality and small size continue to enthrall off-road enthusiasts around the globe. However, buyers must determine whether the lengthy wait is worth the charm and capabilities of this small mountain goat, as waiting periods extend to 4 years.
