The BMW M 1000 RR has been launched at a price of Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant and the top model - Competition can be yours for Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom).
It will be available as completely built-up units (CBU) and can be pre-ordered at all BMW Motorrad India-authorised dealerships from today. The deliveries for the same will begin in November 2023. The BMW M 1000 RR is powered by a 999 cc, liquid-cooled, inline, four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed gearbox that generates a peak output of 211 bhp at 14,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm.
The company claims a 0-100 kmph dash in 3.1 seconds and can achieve a maximum speed of 314 kmph. The seat height is at 832 mm with a wheelbase of 1,456 mm and it tips the scales at 193 kg. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 16.5 litres and rolls on 17-inch M carbon wheels.
Highlights of the engine include lightweight two-ring forged pistons with optimised piston rings, narrow and lightweight cam followers, fully CNC-machined intake ports and BMW ShiftCam technology for varying valve timing and valve lift. Other indispensable components are titanium valves, optimised camshafts and longer titanium connecting rods from Pankl, each 85 g lighter than on the S 1000 RR engine, for reduced friction power and lower weight. The intake system features shorter intake funnels for optimised charge exchange at high engine speeds.
The design of the new BMW M 1000 RR features a lightweight carbon fibre fairing with M design tapes, an aluminium bridge frame, an upside-down fork and central suspension strut with Full Floater Pro kinematics, M Winglets, and M Carbon wheels to name a few.
Other electronic nannies include a 6.5-inch TFT display, rear USB charging socket, LED light units, electronic cruise control and heated grips among others. The M 1000 RR gets five ride modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro with three levels. It also gets Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), engine brake, wheelie-control, ABS and ABS Pro to name a few. Another feature that comes with the ‘Pro Modes’ is launch control and pit-lane limiter.
The new BMW M 1000 RR is also available with the M Competition Package that offers M milled parts package which includes a 220 g lighter swinging arm, DLC-coated M Endurance chain and the pillion package including hump cover, brake and clutch levers, and brake lever guard to name a few. The company is also offering accessories to personalise the bike according to the customer. There is a standard warranty for three years with an option to extend the warranty to the fourth and fifth year.
