The India-bound Volkswagen Tiguan has been teased by the OEM, we can expect the car to make its debut in 2024.
A set of images have been released by the company of the car in its testing phase. The pictures reveal changes that have been done to the exterior and the interior of the car. For starters, the new Tiguan gets new curvy and smooth lines instead of the angular and straight lines on the outgoing model.
The front grille has been redseiged for a sleeker look and they will be flanked by optional HD matrix headlights with a high beam throw of 500 metres. Other bits include large air dams, new set of alloy wheels, and new front and rear bumpers. The dimension of the new Tiguan has increased by 32 mm in length and 5 mm in height.
The interior changes include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment with a sizeable driver dash. The centre console gets a new rotary knob for controlling multiple functions such as ambient lighting and drive modes. The front seats come with ventilation, massage and heating functions. The car has retained features like panoramic sunroof, ADAS functions and smartphone tethering.
The company has not revealed much about the powertrain for the new 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan. We can expect petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid turbo petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrain as options. The company claims a range of 100 km on a full charge for the electric guise of the Tiguan.
The outgoing model retails at a starting price of Rs. 34.7 lakh (ex-showroom). We can expect a significant hike on price when the new model is introduced to the market. The Volkswagen Tiguan rivals the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq and Citoren C5 Aircross to name a few.
