MG has teased the updated Astor on its social media handle. The company has been teasing the SUV for a while with short posts and reels, hinting that the launch could be around the corner. The MG Astor has been touted as the most advanced SUV in its class by the company. We can expect the updated Astor to pack more features and a fresh face with a tweaked rear section for an overall new look. The segment has SUVs like Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta to name a few.
Regarding exterior changes, we can expect a few tweaks on the bonnet, front and rear bumper, and grille along with a revised headlamp and taillamp unit. These changes can give the SUV a new look. For the interiors, we can expect new themes and colour shades for the upholstery while the layout could remain unchanged. The on-sale Astor comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, six speakers with tweeters, a personal AI assistant compatible with Hindi and English commands, level-2 ADAS features, and connected car tech with smartwatch compatibility among other features.
The safety kit on the car includes six airbags, traction control, hill assist, hill descent control, disc brakes for all wheels, TPMS, heated ORVMs, auto headlamps and wipers, PM 2.5 filter, and a 360-degree camera to name a few.
Powering the outgoing MG Astor is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that comes mated with a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT that produces 109 bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 144 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm. There is a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine as well that is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission that belts out 139 bhp of power at 5,600 rpm and 220 Nm of peak torque at 3,600 rpm.
The outgoing model retails at a price of Rs. 10.52 lakh for the base variant and the top model is priced at Rs. 18.69 lakh. The price range of the 2023 MG Astor can be expected to have a decent hike over the current pricing upon launch.
