The BMW M2 is the entry-level car in the M series of the renowned German brand BMW. It is available in petrol variants in India. Currently, the car only comes with automatic transmission. However, BMW has announced plans to offer a manual gearbox option in the upcoming 2023 generation.
The ex-showroom BMW M2 price in India is ₹83.39 lakhs. On-road prices vary from city to city, depending on tax and insurance. BMW M2 price in Delhi is around ₹96.47 lakhs, while in Mumbai, the M2 costs around ₹98.97 lakhs. In Bangalore, the price of the BMW M2 is ₹1.03 Cr.
Engine & performance
The BMW M2 is a coupe that combines practicality and power. The latest generation, the M2 Competition, is fitted with the engine of the M3. The 2797cc turbocharged inline 6-cylinder powerhouse produces 450bhp. The car accelerates from 0-100kmph in just 4.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250kmph.
Technology
In terms of technology, the BMW M2 is fitted with various kits that ensure both convenience and performance. Standard features include Adaptive LED Headlights, rain-sensing wipers and follow-me lamps. For superior capabilities on highways and racetracks, the M2 comes fitted with a standard rear spoiler and quad-tip exhausts. Cruise control offers added comfort during long drives.
Safety
BMW offers eight airbags, an anti-lock braking system and electronic brakeforce distribution as part of the safety package. Brake assist ensures maximum brake force is applied in case an accident is anticipated. This can be extremely helpful in avoiding collisions, especially on highways. A reverse camera, as well as front and rear parking sensors, make driving within the city safer. The M2 has plenty of features within the standard kit, so you don't need to worry about spending lavishly on extra safety features.
Practicality & comfort
Despite the power-packed engine, the M2 is quite a practical four-seater. There is an ample amount of cabin space to seat four adults comfortably. However, as the M2 focuses more heavily on driver comfort and performance, the front legroom is considerably larger than the rear.
The boot is also spacious, but the spare tire eats up a lot of room. A major advantage that the BMW M2 offers is its significantly higher ground clearance than its competitors. This makes it more suitable for Indian roads as it can easily handle road bumps and potholes. A 52L capacity fuel tank makes the car reasonably practical for urban use.
BMW offers two years warranty as part of its standard servicing package. 24X7 roadside assistance is also part of the service deal.
Design & interiors
The BMW M2 Competition provides a significant design upgrade with the addition of a carbon-fibre V-Brace around the engine. Frameless doors also add to its appeal. The interiors are monotone with chrome highlights. A two-zone climate control system and plenty of cupholders and storage compartments make it ideal for everyday use and the occasional road trips. Leather upholstery, electronically adjustable front seats and lumbar support also add to everyday comfort.
In-car Entertainment
The BMW M2 comes with a 16.5" display with iDrive Touch. In-built GPS ensures safe and easy navigation. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay to control the music from the phone. The 205 W Hi-Fi Loudspeaker system is also quite powerful. For an additional price, you can upgrade to Harman Kardon speakers.
