MG Comet EV Price Hiked: More Features, but at a Steeper Cost

MG Motor India has increased prices for the Comet EV, its most affordable electric vehicle, by an increase of up to Rs. 35,700. The base Executive variant saw the highest price hike and higher variants also increased by modest amounts.

JSW Motor India has decided to take the price hike route for its entry-level electric vehicle – the MG Comet EV. The Comet EV, which is compact and packed with specifications for urban utility, will now start off at Rs. 7.35 lakh after an overall price increase as high as Rs. 35,700 across the range of variants.

Which Variants Have Seen Price Increases?

The MG Comet EV is now offered in a line-up of 7 variants:

  • Executive

  • Excite

  • Excite FC

  • Exclusive

  • Exclusive FC

  • Blackstorm Edition

  • 100-Year Edition

The largest portion of the price increase can be accounted for the base Executive variant which is now Rs. 35,700 more expensive than previously. The Excite and Excite FC trims have seen increases of Rs. 16,000 and Rs. 4,000 respective.

The other variants including the Exclusive, Exclusive FC and Blackstorm Edition all saw the same price increase of Rs. 5,300. The 100-Year Edition priced on a different structure was not affected.

New Pricing For The MG Comet EV

In terms of pricing the MG Comet EV now ranges from approximately Rs. 7.35 lakh to Rs. 9.84 lakh ex-showroom by variant. Despite the almost 3% increase in price before showroom fees, this vehicle is one of the most affordable electric cars in India.

The 2025 MG Comet EV: What Has Been Updated?

The 2025 update of the Comet EV includes some important new features which will enhance convenience and comfort.

Some of these features include:

  • Reversing Parking Camera

  • Electrically-Foldable ORVMs

  • Premium Leatherette Seats

  • Four Speaker Audio System

These updates and features should enhance the overall driving experience in the city, and in light of the slight pricing adjustment, also offer good value for those wanting a basic affordable EV at a price that increases features and convenience.

Conclusion

Although the price increase may not be what all budget intending consumers will want to hear, the even more features and growing interest in EVs suggest that the MG Comet EV is a great value option in the entry-level EV market.
