Mahindra Thar OG Launched at ₹10.32 Lakh.

• The Mahindra Thar OG has been launched with prices ranging from ₹10.32 lakh to ₹18.99 lakh (ex-showroom) across AXT, LXT and ZXT trims.

Mahindra has launched the Thar OG, the latest version of its three-door SUV, in India at a starting price of ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The update brings changes to the platform, suspension, steering, engines, exterior design, cabin and safety equipment.

What’s New in the Mahindra Thar OG?

Mahindra has updated its three-door Thar and added the ‘OG’ suffix to its name. The 2026 update brings changes to the platform, suspension, steering, engines, exterior design and safety equipment. The Thar OG continues to compete with models such as the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

The 2026 Thar OG lineup is structured across three main trims: AXT, LXT and ZXT.

Mahindra Thar OG Engine Options

The Thar OG continues to offer three engine options, with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines receiving power upgrades:

• 1.5-Litre Diesel: Produces 119 hp and 300 Nm (RWD only, 6-speed MT on base AXT).

• 2.2-Litre mHawk Diesel: Produce up to 152 hp (+18 hp) and 330 Nm (+30 Nm).

• 2.0-Litre mStallion Turbo-Petrol: Produce up to 162 hp (+10 hp) and 330 Nm (+30 Nm).

For off-road enthusiasts, 4WD variants on LXT and ZXT trims get an Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) along with dedicated terrain modes (Mud, Sand, and Snow).

Mahindra Thar OG Platform, Suspension and Steering

The Thar OG gets a rear Pentalink suspension with a Watts Link, while Mahindra's DAVINCI damping technology is standard across the range. The top-spec ZXT additionally gets Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD).

Mahindra has also replaced the hydraulic power steering with electric power steering (EPS), which should make low-speed manoeuvring and parking easier.

The Thar OG gets an updated exterior

• Exterior Tweaks: A redesigned front grille with 'Thar' branding, revised front and rear bumpers, a wider track and an 'OG' emblem on the tailgate.

• Lighting Updates: The ZXT trim gets new LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs and LED fog lamps with a cornering function.

• Wheels & Colours: The top-spec ZXT gets new 19-inch alloy wheels. Two new body paint options - Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue join the existing colour palette.

Mahindra Thar OG Cabin Upgrades

Inside, the cabin gets Truffle Brown leatherette upholstery and second-row armrests with built-in cupholders. Mahindra also claims lower NVH levels compared with the previous model.

Safety Features

Safety equipment varies by variant. The AXT and LXT trims get dual airbags, while the ZXT adds six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes and tyre-pressure monitoring. Electronic stability control with rollover mitigation, traction control and hill-hold control is standard from the AXT trim onwards.

The Mahindra Thar OG is therefore available with a wider range of mechanical and equipment changes than the previous three-door version, while retaining the same three-door format.
