Limited to 460 units only, the G-Class Edition 'Stronger Than The 1980s' features design elements and retro paint finishes inspired by the original G-Class.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the limited run G-class Edition 'Stronger Than The 1980s', a special edition that harkens back to the origins of the legendary off-roader. True to its name, the special edition draws design inspiration from the first-generation G-class. The special version is limited to only 460 units worldwide- a number that strays back to the model code that denotes the original G-Wagen, the W 460.

The special edition G-class is presented in three exterior colors from the 1980s-
MANUFAKTUR agave green solid
MANUFAKTUR cream solid, and
MANUFAKTUR Colorado beige solid
Other elements inspired by the W 460 G-class include the silver finish 5-spoke alloy wheels, blacked-out nose and grille, headlamp protective grates and blacked-out bumpers. For extra G-Wagen throwback vibes, the wheel arch extensions and side runners are also black, and the indicators have period-correct orange lenses, while the Mercedes badge on the bonnet also hails from the 1980s.

At the rear, the old-school 'Mercedes-Benz' badging can be seen on the tailgate, while the modern hard cover for the wheel was replaced by a soft cover with a sizable Mercedes-Benz logo. The G-class Edition 'Stronger Than The 1980s' also gets all-terrain tyres as standard.

Open the front door, and you will see that the 'Shockl Proved' badge also sports a retro design featuring an 80s G-class finished in the body color of the edition. The 80s treatment extends to the seats, with gray fabric center sections. The passenger grab handle is stamped with 'Stronger Than The 1980s,' while '1 of 460' branding is embossed in the center console trim between the seats. Cabin gets special edition badging and part fabric upholstery on the seats.
As for India, there's no official word from the company if any units of the special edition G-class could make their way to this country. Mercedes-India has previously sold select limited editions of the G-class in the country; the last one was the AMG G 63 Grand Edition in 2023.
