Kia Syros HTX Variant: A Comprehensive Overview

Discover the Kia Syros HTX variant, a mid-level trim that combines modern design with practical features, providing a balanced choice for SUV enthusiasts.

The Kia Syros has recently entered the Indian market, presenting itself as a fresh option in the sub-4-meter SUV segment. Among its various trims, the HTX variant stands out as a mid-tier choice, offering a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality.

Let's delve into the specifics of what the HTX variant brings to the table.

Exterior Design

Front Profile

The HTX variant distinguishes itself with sleek LED headlights, a step up from the halogen units found in the base models.

The front design takes cues from Kia's larger EV9 SUV, featuring vertically aligned headlights and a divided grille, giving the Syros a contemporary and assertive look.

Additionally, front parking sensors are standard across all variants, enhancing safety during tight maneuvers.

Side Profile

Maintaining its modern appeal, the Syros HTX showcases body-colored flush door handles that seamlessly integrate into its design.

Silver accents along the doors and roof rails add a touch of elegance. The SUV rides on 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, which, while slightly smaller than those on the top-tier HTX Plus (O) variant, still provide a balanced and stylish appearance.

Rear Profile

At the rear, the HTX variant mirrors the design of the higher-end HTX Plus (O) model.

It features minimalist styling with L-shaped LED tail lamps encircling the rear window, and the turn indicators are positioned lower near the bumper, maintaining a clean and uncluttered look.

Interior Features

Cabin Ambiance

As one Steps inside the HTX, occupants are greeted with a dual-tone blue and grey interior, accented by subtle light green highlights.

The dashboard boasts a unique pattern and houses dual 12.3-inch digital displays, a pioneering feature in this vehicle segment. The two-spoke steering wheel and gear lever are wrapped in leatherette, adding to the premium feel.

Comfort and Convenience

While the HTX offers ventilated front seats, a feature appreciated in warmer climates, it does not extend this luxury to the rear seats, a perk reserved for the top-tier variants.

Additionally, the HTX lacks a wireless phone charging pad and a panoramic sunroof, amenities available in the higher-spec models.

Performance and Powertrain

The Kia Syros HTX comes with two engine options:

  1. 1.0-Liter Turbocharged Petrol Engine

  2. Power: 120 PS

  3. Torque: 172 Nm

  4. Transmission: 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic

  5. 1.5-Liter Diesel Engine

  6. Power: 116 PS

  7. Torque: 250 Nm

  8. Transmission: 6-speed manual

It's noteworthy that the HTX variant does not offer the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission available with the diesel engine in the HTX Plus variant.

Anticipated Pricing and Market Positioning

The official pricing for the Kia Syros is slated for announcement on February 1, 2025. Industry expectations suggest a starting price of around ₹9.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

While the Syros doesn't have a direct competitor, it positions itself as a premium alternative to other sub-4-meter SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, and Skoda Kylaq.

In conclusion, The Kia Syros HTX variant presents a compelling package for those seeking a mid-range SUV that balances modern design with practical features.

While it may lack some of the high-end amenities found in the top-tier variants, it still offers a robust set of features that cater to the needs of many SUV enthusiasts.

As always, potential buyers should consider their specific requirements and preferences when choosing the variant that best suits them.
