Is It Worth Buying A Second Hand Bmw X7

Is It Worth Buying A Second Hand BMW X7?

Is purchasing a second-hand BMW X7 a worthy investment? The answer largely depends on your preferences and budget. A used BMW X7 offers luxury, power, and advanced features at a more affordable price than a new model. However, it's essential to consider maintenance costs and potential depreciation. A thorough inspection and maintenance history check are vital. If you value opulence and performance and can manage the associated expenses, a used BMW X7 can be a fantastic choice for a premium SUV.

 BMW X7

Until now, a BMW X7 used was perhaps the best bet in the market, if you were in for a sub 1 crore luxury SUV. The X7 is a class-leading vehicle that doesn't compromise on anything. Till now, a BMW X7 pre-owned model made perfect sense. However, with the launch of the German automaker is facelifted X7 in India, the equation has now changed quite a bit.

Don't get us wrong; we are all in for a well-maintained BMW X7 second-hand deal. But now that the Bavarian automaker has introduced quite a few distinguishing elements in the latest rendition of the 6-seater SUV, the real question is - is it worth it anymore to buy a second-hand BMW X7? We will find that out by the end of this read.

BMW X7 Used - Is It Really Worth It?

In a value-centric market like India, the consumer segment of used luxury vehicles tend to behave differently compared to regular automotive buyers. The perspectives on product value and budget are also quite different particularly when we consider a vehicle of the class of a BMW X7 pre-owned.

Pre-Owned BMW X7 - Things That You Won't Miss

The first bimmer X7 was launched in India back in 2019. Since then, the Indian market has witnessed quite a few variants of luxury SUVs. Most notably, the earlier renditions of the X7 came in a 5-litre diesel variant apart from the standard 3-litre petrol and diesel options.

On the other hand, the new facelifted BMW X7 is currently available only in a 3-litre variant powered by either a petrol (xDrive 40i) or a diesel (xDrive 40d) engine. Buying a BMW X7 pre-owned model means that you can get your hands on a 5-litre beast which is not possible with the latest model.

Although there are quite a lot of distinguishing additions to the latest BMW X7, overall, the luxury SUV has retained much of the existing luxury quotient from a 4WD system to auto-adjusting air suspensions & electronically adjustable, ventilated seats.

BMW X7 Used - Things That You Will Miss

One of the cons of going for a pre-owned BMW X7 is the fact that you will miss all the new exciting elements that BMW has integrated into the facelifted X7. For starters, the new BMW X7 is bigger - so says some of the new owners of the facelifted version. However, there are a lot more items than just the size of the vehicle to miss out on if you go for a BMW X7 second-hand model.

Some of the features that no pre-owned BMW X7 can offer in India are the newly designed front fascia with mean-looking split headlights coupled with the distinctive central air intake and air curtains on either side of it. Even the interiors have been changed which means you will miss BMWs huge curved display which is available only with the latest facelifted variant. Yet another thing that is new to the X7 is the seamless dashboard ambient light which glows up with the X7 badging. Besides, you will also miss out on BMWs latest 3D taillights if you go for a BMW X7 second-hand model.

BMW X7 Second Hand - Does it offer the same value?

Going for a pre-owned BMW X7 always means that the car will have some mileage on it. A quick go-through of the availability of BMW X7 second-hand models in the market led us to conclude that on average, you can find a used BMW X7 with around 30,000 KM to 70,000 KM on the odometer. While this does not necessarily mean that the particular model is straightaway a no-go, a pre-purchase check will definitely be a cumbersome task to identify any red flags.

From a price point of view, a used BMW X7 is by no means a cheap car. Currently, you must be ready to let go of a whopping 1.5 crore rupees to get your hands on a brand new X7 with all the latest features. On the contrary, a pre-owned BMW X7 with around 30,000 KM on the odometer will cost you anywhere in the range of 1.15 crore to 1.20 crore rupees and you will definitely not get any of the latest X7 features that BMW has upgraded the facelifted X7 with.

If you are ready to compromise on the latest upgrades that BMW is offering with the facelifted X7 in India, then a pre-owned BMW X7 makes perfect sense. For 35 to 40 lakh rupees depreciation, a second-hand BMW X7 is by no means any less of an X7 or a lesser luxury SUV to buy.

Conclusion

At the same price point, you can also go for competitors such as a pre-owned GLS 400 or an Audi Q8. On the other hand, if you are really looking to save big bucks and still own a luxury SUV of the stature of the X7, then even a second-hand GLS 350d makes perfect sense for up to 50 lakh rupees less. But to go for a used BMW X7 and whether it will be worth it - we will leave that question for you to answer in the comments.
