Everything about E Challans Payments in Himachal Pradesh India

To maintain a smooth flow of the traffic and to maintain traffic rules and regulations, the government of India introduced the concept of e-challan. This proactive measure makes challan payment easier for citizens through the utilization of Digital India.

An e-challan is a computerized challan that is sent to traffic violators across India. It uses CCTVs to capture traffic violations and penalise the offenders with a fine under the Motor Vehicles Act.

There are several ways to check the status of a challan and even pay the fine online. Please keep reading to discover everything there is to know about the online challan check and how to pay it off.

How to check the status of traffic of e-challan HP?

You can check the status of your Himachal Pradesh e-challan on the Parivahan and Himachal Pradesh government websites.

To check the status of your challan, go to the Parivahan website run by the Government of India:

  1. Go to the Parivahan e-challan website
  2. Enter your challan/driving license/vehicle number here.
  3. Enter the captcha code and then click the “Get Details“ button.
  4. All challans in your name will be shown. Tap on the one whose status you want to know.

Using the Online Receipts Accounting System of the Himachal Pradesh Government:

  5. Visit the national informatics center's Himkosh e-challan website.
  6. Non-registered users must click the “Create New Account“ button.
  7. Fill in your personal information. Then, configure login information such as e-mail, password, and security questions.
  8. Log in with the newly assigned user ID and password.
  9. The screen will display a blank challan form. Enter all the required information, such as the department name, service name, payee name, address, and mobile phone number.
  10. Choose a bank for online payment.
  11. The challan receipt will be available for printing following a successful transaction.

Can I pay off my challan offline too?

Yes, you can, you can also check your vehicle challan status with the traffic police, to find out about your pending challan status and pay your fine. These are the following ways:

  12. You can pay your traffic challans by going to the nearest police station in the city where you were fined.
  13. You can check the status of a vehicle challan by going to a traffic cop with a challan machine. You can show them your challan details and pay with cash or a credit card on the spot.

What happens if an e-challan is not paid on time?

Challan payment is analogous to tax payment. What happens when taxpayers attempt to avoid filing income tax returns? The consequences would begin with the income tax department sending a warning notice and a penalty, but would quickly escalate to jail time.

Even if challan payment is not made on time, the consequences are no different. If you do not pay your challan dues on time and your online traffic challan status remains unpaid, nodal branch officers can suspend your driver's license! So, to facilitate prompt payment of your e-challan, keep your challan status inquiry up to date.
