R City Mall, Mumbai

Background

Situated in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, R City Mall is one of the city's leading shopping and entertainment destinations. The mall has over 350 stores, including leading brands like IKEA, Westside, ALDO, H&M, Marks and Spencer, and Diesel. It also houses an 8-screen movie theatre by Inox. Spanning over 1.2 million square feet, R City mall records an average footfall of 1,35,000 weekly. More than 11,000 cars are parked in the mall premises weekly, making it a prime location requiring a robust parking management system.

Problem Statement

These were the most pressing challenges faced by the tenants of R City Mall:

  1. A dispersed parking area with 800 slots, 2 wings, and 4 gates increased the dependency on manual intervention for operating the parking lot.

  2. Dependence on a traditional valet system led to long queues for visitors.

Solution Provided

  1. FASTag-based payment system: Park+ deployed an efficient parking management system that uses FASTag-enabled RFID readers to charge visitors directly when they enter the parking lot.

  2. Pre-Booking of parking slots: Employees and visitors could use the Park+ app to book their parking slots in advance. This helped manage unnecessary queues and congestion, resulting in quick and uninterrupted parking management.

  1. Over 65% of the total parking fees collected was through the cashless mode.

  2. Shorter entry and exit queues for vehicles saved time and improved visitor experience.

  3. Lower dependency on manpower allowed resources to be utilised and deployed more optimally.

User Impact

The waiting time for customers' vehicles significantly decreased with the solution provided by Park+. The slot pre-booking facilities further removed any worry associated with finding a parking spot for both employees and visitors. These led to significantly improved customer and employee experiences. In addition, incorporating cashless payment methods such as FASTag and UPI helped minimise the amount of cash being handled, thereby reducing the issues that generally arise from cash-based transactions.
