Madhya Pradesh follows the Central Motor Vehicles Rules of 1989 and the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, which specify the fines for different traffic offences.

  • If you don't follow traffic rules, such as if you ride without a helmet, use a mobile phone while driving, or drive without a vehicle, and even if you do not produce your license on demand, you will pay a fine of 100 for a first offence and ? 300 for a subsequent offence.

  • Driving without a license lets you pay a fine of ? 500 and 3 months of imprisonment.

  • If an under-aged or minor drives a vehicle, it will lead to 3 months of imprisonment and you should pay a fine of ?500.

  • For overspeed driving, you must pay ?400 for the first offence and ?1000 for the subsequent offence.

  • Drunk and driving will lead to imprisonment of 6 months or ? 2,000 for the first time offence, or both, and 2 years of imprisonment or ? 3000 for a subsequent offence.

  • A different person driving a vehicle other than the license holder will cause 3 months of imprisonment and a fine of ?100.

  • Moreover, the racing of vehicles will lead to 1 month of imprisonment or a fine of ?500 or both.

The state utilizes a point-based system, where each violation has a specific number of points and when these points accumulate, then the offender's license gets canceled.

Challan penalties in Rajasthan

  • Overspeeding or red light signal jumping will lead to a fine of ?1000.

  • If you ride without having a permit, then ?10000 is the penalty amount.

Difference between challan penalties In Madhya Pradesh Vs Rajasthan
