Things have become untimely in a way. While car models used to get launched annually before, now a car model can get launched any time of the year. It seems people are in for trick or treat even before the year ends! Here we list some cars that are due to launch, some in days and months. More specifically, as more and more people in the contemporary are out and about to buy cars, a first for some and probably not the last for others, they must weigh their options beforehand to plan for the purchase in advance. Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift
Baleno Facelift, a new variant of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno launched in 2015, seems to be getting an appearance upgrade insofar as has been revealed by the sources. Hyundai Casper
Hyundai, the Korean carmaker, is very popular for installing great features in its car. As one of the low-range cars, thus, Casper remains a much-awaited launch in the Indian market. The vehicle is a 5-seater with a manual transmission, with the body type Micro-SUV so that it will compete against Tata’s Punch. Some variants of the model will get a 1.2 ltr petrol engine. In comparison, other variants on the high end will get a 1-0 ltr turbo-petrol engine with only three cylinders and possibly automated transmission. It’s speculated that the car will have a flat bonnet, LED-DRLs, and a silver grille in triangular patterns. Citroen C3
Citroen, the French carmaker that sells only SUVs in India as of yet, was launched in the market in 2021. Even though it records the lowest sales in the Indian automobile industry because of being expensive, Citroen is planning to launch an affordable hatchback called Citroen C3 early in the March of 2022. Mainly because there is comfortable seat quality, Citroen C5 Aircross sold approximately 41 units in 2021. The Citroen C3 thus might stand a chance amongst the high competition from trusted carmakers in India. The C3 has a 1.2 ltr 1198 cc naturally aspirated turbocharged petrol engine options ranging from variant to variant. According to the ARAI rating, Vitara Brezza gives 18 km/pl on a 1.5 ltr K-series petrol engine, possibly available in both 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque automatic transmissions. As a 5-seater SUV, the Vitara Brezza facelift is getting a real upgrade from its predecessor variants, including projector headlamps with LED DRLs, redesigned grille, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, LED- taillights, and revamped rear bumper for a fresh look. Toyota Hyryder
Inspired by the Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R, Toyota is aiming to launch an EV car, most probably in June 2022. The Toyota Hyryder is expected to look much similar to Wagon-R, but with redesigned front bumper having split LED headlamps, a single slat grille, and alloy wheels inspired from the Maruti Ignis, among some other redesigned features. A hatchback, the Toyota Hyryder is expected to have a battery retaining the range of 200kms. More parts remain unrevealed at the moment. The Car is scheduled to launch with an estimated ex-showroom price ranging from Rs.8 lakh to Rs.12 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki 2022 S-Cross
Another variant of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, this Facelifted 2022 variant, has an SUV-inspired structure. It has a large black glossed front grille, LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers, circular fog lamps, and a silver skid plate. The car is expected to have a 1.5 ltr K.series petrol engine from the current-gen model with 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The new S-Cross is expected to have a floating 9-inch touchscreen information display with AppleCarplay and Android Auto connectivity. Scheduled to be launched in July of 2022, it may launch with an estimated ex-showroom price ranging from Rs.9.5 Lakhs to Rs.13 lakhs.
Mahindra e20 NXT
Yet another EV car, plans for the all-new Mahindra e20 NXT were first revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. Wholly indigenous in its research and designing, the buyers can expect something different than the usual Mahindra designs in the car. For example, instead of a front grille, there is going to be a black plastic plate with a small Mahindra logo on it and blue backlighting. The headlamps are double barrel, with verticle LED taillights, and the wheels will be 14-inch double-cut diamond cut. From the Auto Expo, we have learnt that the car has a white exterior and white interior. Still, since it is expected to have Mahindra Electric Scalable Modular Architecture, thus it may have a range of various shapes, sizes, and capacities. There will be a large touchscreen HD display, among other digital equipment clusters. The car is expected to launch from an estimated ex-showroom price ranging between Rs.6 lakh to Rs.8 lakhs in the July of 2022.
Toyota Rumion
Getting launched as an affordable MUV, the car will be competing with Maruti Ertiga. Given that Toyota enjoys massive popularity for its MUV segment cars, Rumion is one of the much-awaited launches of 2022. The 7-seater vehicle has a 1462 cc 1.5 ltr petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic. In sync with the improving technology in cars, the Toyota Rumion has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. Expected to launch in August 2022, the vehicle might be getting found at an estimated ex-showroom price starting from Rs.8.8 lakhs. Thus it may be giving good competition to Mahindra Marrazzo and even Toyota Innova Crysta!
Mitsubishi Mirage
Mitsubishi is the most famous for introducing top-class technology to the world, which also applies to Mitsubishi Mirage. While the launch date is not set, the car is expected to launch in the latter half of 2022. Under the hatchback segment, Mirage could take over the Indian market because of the vast buyer base for hatchback models. Mitsubishi Mirage is a 5-seater, in manual 5-speed and CVT automatic transmission, and comes with a petrol engine. Introduced already in other countries, the car is known to give an average mileage of 18 km/pl. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 6.3 inches and aluminium wheels, and its safety features, like an anti-lock braking system, make it a safe ride for people. The expected ex-showroom price for Mitsubishi Mirage is around Rs.5 lakhs.
Honda New Jazz
While famous for its premium sedan segment, the Japanese carmaker has captured the market, competing against Maruti Baleno. The Honda New Jazz was revealed to the public eye in 2019 at the Tokyo Motor Show. The new car doesn’t come with the classic Honda grille; instead, it comes with a body-coloured panel, joining the headlamp and a small recess below it. Somewhat a design of the sedan segment, the New Jazz also looks eccentric because of the C-pillar that drops down on the wrap-around taillights, giving the car an MPV- like stance. The Honda New Jazz will probably have a classic 1.5 ltr Honda i-VTEC petrol engine. Other details are yet to be known. The estimated launch date of the Honda New Jazz is 1st December 2022 at an estimated ex-showroom price starting from Rs.8 lakh to Rs.12 lakhs.
Renault City K-ZE
2022 seems to be the year of feasibility and technology, as the Renault City K-ZE is all set to launch in December 2022. The car structure is said to have been inspired by Renault facelifted Kwid, which was found last year, therefore, a Hatchback. Already established in some countries, the car is run on a 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack and can hit a top speed of 105 km/ph. The range of return is 350 km at a constant rate of 60 km/ph, and according to the NEDC cycle, a range of 271 km has the Renault CMF-A platform Architecture. The Headlamps have LED DRLs, while the interior matches the ICE-powered Kwid, thus providing the same leg space and boot capacity. The Car is expected to launch with an estimated ex-showroom price range from Rs.5 Lakhs to Rs.6 Lakhs.
Skoda Fabia
Even though Skoda isn’t one of the famous carmakers in the Indian market, the Skoda hatchbacks enjoy popularity to some extent still. Skoda Fabia is expected to launch in December 2022 at an estimated ex-showroom price starting at Rs.7 lakh. Skoda Fabia, a 5-seater, has an 1198 cc 4-cylinder petrol engine with manual transmission.
Jeep Renegade
Almost every car enthusiast in India has been amazed by Jeep’s cars. The Jeep Renegade is a much-awaited launch in India precisely because it’s under the SUV segment and comes with a sturdy body which is the selling point of the carmaker. The car engine is expected to be up to 1398cc 2.0 ltr diesel engine and 1.4 ltr petrol engine, along with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the latter being only in the higher variants, and also in petrol engines. Even though it’s yet to be launched, the key features of Jeep Renegade include the 8-inch Uconnect infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, sunroof and driving mode components in the higher segments, among other features like LED headlamps and tail-lamps, the car is set to give competition to hits like Renault Creta. It's expected to launch in July 2023 at an estimated ex-showroom price starting from Rs.10 lakhs.
Volkswagen Up
Volkswagen enjoys a small but loyal customer base in India. Volkswagen Up, launched outside of India in 2012, was given the World Car of the year award. Therefore we know that it has excellent features perfect for a 1st-time car buyer. The 6-seater car has a 1.0 ltr petrol engine with manual transmission and a mileage of 18 km/pl. The Volkswagen Up also has power steering, tubeless tyres, LED DRLs, an LED taillamp cluster that is emphasised by a chrome strip on the tailgate, wing mirrors with LED indicators, and new alloy wheels. The Volkswagen Up launch date in India has not been set yet, but with an estimated ex-showroom price beginning from Rs.4 Lakh, the car might become the most popular hatchback choice in the Indian market.
