Hyundai i20 N-Line was launched in India in September 2021 and is the first N-Line car ever to be introduced in India by Hyundai. It was launched at a price of ?9,99,900 but the prices have increased recently. We will get into the pricing details a bit later.
The sportier hatchback is offered in two variants N6 and N8. The N6 variant comes with two transmission options, the iMT as well as the DCT. The top N8 variant comes with the DCT option only. Hyundai i20 N-Line is offered in 4 single-tone options: Thunder Blue, Starry Night, Titan Grey, and Polar White.
It is also offered in three dual-tone options: Thunder blue + Phantom black roof, Fiery red + Phantom black roof, and Polar white + Phantom black roof.
Compared to the standard i20, i20 N-Line features a sportier appearance with redesigned front and rear bumpers, a new grille sporting a 'chequered flag' inspired design, additional front and side skirts, a fresh wheel design, dual-tip exhaust pipes, and red accents throughout, as well as black elements.
It also offers new colour options as mentioned earlier. Upon entering the vehicle, you will notice leatherette seats with a chequered flag pattern, a unique N steering wheel, N-branded gear levers, sporty metal pedals, and paddle shifters.
The most significant performance enhancement is the recalibrated steering and stiffened suspension, resulting in improved handling at high speeds.
i20 N-Line comes with a host of safety features that provide a secure driving experience for its occupants. Some of the safety features include:
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS): ABS helps prevent the wheels from locking up during emergency braking, thereby maintaining control of the vehicle.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC): ESC helps maintain stability while driving on slippery roads or during sudden turns by automatically applying brakes to individual wheels and reducing engine power.
Hill Start Assist Control (HAC): HAC helps the driver start the car on an incline by preventing it from rolling backwards.
Rearview Camer The rearview camera helps the driver in parking or reversing the car by displaying the image of the rear view on the infotainment screen.
Parking Sensors: The parking sensors alert the driver of any obstacles in the front or rear of the car while parking.
Airbags: The i20 N-Line comes with six airbags, including dual front airbags, front side airbags, and curtain airbags, providing a safe cocoon for the occupants in case of an accident.
These safety features make the Hyundai i20 N-Line a safe car to drive on Indian roads, giving the driver and passengers peace of mind while on the road.
Hyundai i20 N-Line comes equipped with a 1.0-litre TGDi petrol engine that is capable of churning out 120 hp of power and a peak torque of 172 Nm. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
The top speed of the Hyundai i20 N-Line is limited to around 170 mph. Hyundai claims that it takes around 9.9 seconds for the i20 N-Line to reach 100 kmph from zero.
The car offers a more engaging driving experience and a host of features that are not available in the standard i20.
One of the downsides is that the iMT won't allow you to perform quick shifts due to the lack of a clutch. You don't get any regular manual transmission option with the Hyundai i20 N-Line which might be an important point for some of the buyers.
Hyundai i20 N-Line is a great choice for enthusiasts who want a sporty and performance-oriented hatchback that is also practical and comfortable for daily use. The car is a great addition to the i20 lineup and offers a unique driving experience that is sure to appeal to enthusiasts and casual drivers alike.
