Skoda Superb is back: Relaunch expected on 3 April
Skoda Superb was discontinued by the brand when it failed to follow the norms of the BS6 Phase-II emission standards that came into effect on April 1, 2023. Instead of giving up or completely discontinuing this car, sooner Skoda shared a glimpse of the new Skoda Superb scheduled to make its extravagant re-entry in the Indian market on April 3, 2024. Almost a year after its discontinuation. It is important to note that the fourth-generation Skoda Superb which was to be debuted globally in November 2023 originally, is also planned to be launched later this year.
The Skoda Superb, which goes on sale tomorrow, is the previous generation vehicle that was sold in India before its discontinuation due to the adoption of BS6 regulations. Furthermore, by GSR 870 regulations, the Skoda Superb will be imported into India as CBUs rather than being assembled there. Reports suggest an estimated ex-showroom price of around Rs 55 lakh for the top-spec 'L&K' variant. Recent media sources claim that a confidential corporate document has been leaked, revealing that Skoda intends to return on April 3 and may introduce 100 of the brand-new Superb to India.

The new Skoda Superb will include ADAS technology, which can help in a variety of situations at speeds up to 210 mph. Additionally, we can expect a park assist and a 360-degree camera for the Superb. Other features include a three-zone climate control system, Bluetooth phone connectivity, electrically adjustable seats, ventilated seats with massaging capabilities, and more. It will not have a sunroof, though.
The global Superb lineup is expected to boast a range of engine choices, including plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid TSI turbocharged petrol, and TDI diesel engines. The 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline engine, which produces 188 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, and the 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine, which produces 148 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque, will be the main attraction for the Indian market. A seven-speed DSG automatic transmission may be added with both engines.
According to several reports, the top-spec 'L&K' model of the new Skoda Superb is reportedly to cost about Rs 55 lakh.
The carmaker is expected to introduce the upgraded Octavia in India as a CBU after the Skoda Superb. Skoda will probably introduce the fourth-generation Superb together with the two sedans but at a later date.
