2026 Honda City Facelift Officially Teased Ahead of 22 May India Launch
  • The 2026 Honda City facelift has been officially teased and is set to go on sale on 22 May alongside the new ZR-V.

  • The refreshed sedan brings a reworked front fascia, updated cabin features, and carries forward its trusted 1.5-litre VTEC petrol engine.

Honda Cars India has released the first official teaser of the 2026 City facelift, giving enthusiasts and prospective buyers a proper preview of what to expect from one of the Indian market's most familiar sedans.

The refreshed model will be launched on 22 May, the same day Honda plans to introduce the new ZR-V, making it a landmark week for the Japanese manufacturer in India.

A Double Launch That Sets the Tone for Honda India

It is not every day that a carmaker rolls out two new products on the same day, but that is precisely what Honda Cars India has lined up.

The City facelift and the ZR-V will both go on sale on 22 May, with prices for both models to be announced on that date. For the City in particular, this refresh arrives at a time when competition in the mid-size sedan segment has grown sharper than ever.

What the Teaser Reveals About the New Look

The official teaser image confirms some notable visual changes to the City's front end. The fascia now wears a full-width LED light bar, which gives the car a noticeably more contemporary look compared to its predecessor.

On either side, a two-piece LED DRL arrangement replaces the older setup, lending the front a sharper, more structured appearance. The grille has been revised as well, and both the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned. It is an evolution rather than a revolution, but the changes are meaningful enough to make the facelift feel like a genuine step forward.

Upgraded Cabin Brings Much-Needed Modern Touches

Step inside the 2026 City and there is plenty to appreciate. The most headline-worthy addition is the larger touchscreen infotainment system, which brings the cabin up to speed with the expectations of modern buyers.

An electric sunroof and ventilated front seats have also been added to the kit list features that are particularly welcome in the Indian climate. Rounding off the interior changes is a tweaked AC panel unit, which adds to the feeling that Honda has paid close attention to the cabin's everyday usability.

The Trusted 1.5-Litre VTEC Engine Soldiers On

Under the bonnet, things remain familiar. The 2026 City facelift carries forward the same 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated VTEC petrol engine, producing 119bhp and 145Nm of torque.

The transmission options are unchanged too, with buyers able to choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a CVT unit. The powertrain has long been regarded as one of the City's strong suits, offering a smooth, refined driving experience, and Honda has wisely chosen not to disturb the formula.

Pricing and What to Expect on Launch Day

With the 22 May reveal just around the corner, the 2026 Honda City facelift is expected to be priced between Rs 12.50 lakh and Rs 19.00 lakh (ex-showroom).

At that price point, it will go up against established rivals in a segment that has seen renewed buyer interest over the past couple of years. If the teaser is any indication, Honda appears confident that the updated City has enough to hold its own.
