What is the current road tax in UP?

Anyone who buys a two or four-wheeler in UP has to pay road tax, either if they use their vehicle to transfer goods or for personal use. This rule falls under the UP Motor Vehicle Taxation Act (Section 3).

Therefore, you must pay a road tax whenever you buy a vehicle. In addition to the price, you will also have to pay RTO charges for a new car in UP.�

How much is the current UP road tax?

How much road tax you have to pay depends on the vehicle you use, whether a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler. Your UP RTO road tax amount will also depend on other things like the model, make, engine capacity, seating capacity, and so on. It is mandatory for every vehicle owner to pay RTO charges for a new vehicle in UP while registering. Additionally, they must pay the yearly UP road tax per the rule.

The annual UP road tax payable for two-wheelers are

  • Moped�s weight not exceeding 90.72 kg = ?150
  • Vehicle value: Up to ?0.20 Lakhs = 2% of its price
  • Vehicle value: ?0.20 Lakhs - ?0.60 Lakhs = 4% of its price
  • Vehicle value: ?0.60 Lakhs - ?2 Lakhs = 6% of its price
  • Vehicle value > ?2 Lakhs = 8% of its price

The UP road tax amount for four-wheeler cars

The annual UP road tax payable for cars is

  • Car value: Up to ?6 Lakhs = 3% of its value
  • Car value: ?6 Lakhs - ?10 Lakhs = 6% of its value
  • Car value: ?10 Lakhs - ?20 Lakhs = 8% of its value
  • Car value > ?20 Lakhs = 9% of its value

The UP road tax amount for goods vehicles

The annual UP road tax payable for goods/commercial vehicles are

  • Loading capacity: Up to 1 ton - ?665.00
  • Loading capacity: 1 - 2 tons - ?946
  • Loading capacity: 2 - 4 tons - ?1430.00
  • Loading capacity: 4 - 6 tons - ?1915.00
  • Loading capacity: 6 - 8 tons - ?2375.00
  • Loading capacity: 8 - 9 tons - ?2865.00
  • Loading capacity: 9 - 10 tons - ?3320.00
  • Loading capacity > 10 ton = ?3,320.00 and additional ?470/ton
