How to Pay E-Challan in Madhya Pradesh?

The growth of digital India has encouraged many Indian states to adopt an electronic Challan System to curtail and minimize traffic violations in the state. Using an online e-challan improves transparency and efficiency in recording traffic violations and issuing penalties.

Let's understand e challan MP system in a bit of detail.

How can I find out the status of my MP e-challan?

You can track the status of your MP e-challan on the Park+ or Parivahan websites.

  • On the Park+ website, go to the Madhya Pradesh e-challan online page.
  • Type your car registration number to see the status of your challan.

The other way to know the status of your MP e challan is to log in to the official site of the Government of India, Parivahan:

  • Open the e-challan Parivahan website.
  • Login in with your credentials.
  • Type your challan number/driving license number/vehicle registration number after being routed to the Parivahan website.
  • Then, before clicking ''Get Details,'' input the Captcha password.
  • Make payment by selecting the e-challan from the provided list.
  • When you successfully pay an e-challan, you should get a confirmation email with your transaction ID.

What happens if I do not pay my MP e-challan?

In case you do not pay your e-challan on time, you will have to appear in the court proceedings. If you fail or forget to pay the challan, there are high chances that your license may be revoked.

How to pay for e-challan MP if you are not tech-savvy?

In case you are not tech-savvy, then you still can pay an e-challan issued by the Madhya Pradesh traffic police. You have two options for this:

Bring your driving license, identity proof, address proof, and traffic challan to any traffic police station in your city. Make payment for the penalty in cash and keep your receipt. Or find a traffic cop using a portable e-challan payment gadget. Use your credit/debit card to make a digital payment right away.

How can I avoid getting an e-challan in Madhya Pradesh?

All vehicle owners should follow the following fundamental traffic regulations if they want to avoid getting a challan:

  • Always Carry the following documents: A car owner must keep these documents in his car at all times: driver's license, insurance certificate, registration certificate, and Pollution
  • Under Control (PUC) certificates are required for all vehicles.
  • Commercial vehicles need to carry a fitness certificate (issued by the manufacturer or state RTO authority, after examining the insurance, tax, pollution certificate, etc.) or a tourist permit.
  • Comprehend and follow road signs: Every motorist must learn and obey road signs and instructional signals. These indicators forewarn you of what is to come. They also show what you are and are not permitted to do when driving on the road.
  • Never defy or disagree with a police officer. Bribing a police officer is a crime. Cooperate with the cops to make sure that traffic flows smoothly on the highway or roads.
  • Allow for emergency vehicles: If you see an emergency vehicle, such as police cars, ambulances, or fire engines attempting to pass, give them room. Blocking their path may result in losing life or property. As a result, it is a criminal violation.

In a nutshell, the process of paying e-challan through online mediums in Madhya Pradesh has been made easy and faster, however, do ensure that you follow all traffic rules so as to avoid getting an e-challan in the first place.
