Driving without insurance can result in a fine of up to INR 1,000 or imprisonment, which may extend to three months, or both.
Drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs is punishable by imprisonment for six months and/or fines of up to INR 2,000. The subsequent offence is punishable by imprisonment for two years and/or a fine of INR 3000.
