Making car parking smarter & safer for Razorpay employees, in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, the second-most congested city in the world after London in 2022, according to Dutch location technology specialist Tom Tom, is facing another crisis of epic proportions—car parking. A Bangalore Mirror story dated March 31, 2023, reported that the Bengaluru traffic police had registered 83,42,696 cases of traffic violations under the Motor Vehicle Act as of October 2022, of which 10,06,606 cases were registered for illegal parking. These included parking on footpaths, intersections and at the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation stands.

We at Park+ identified these daily hassles for car owners and took something that had historically been painful & intimidating – finding a legal & safe parking spot and made it effortless. Today we host the largest inventory of discoverable parking spots India – 2,50,000 spots, across India. We work very closely with residential societies, corporate parks, and malls to ‘smartly’ manage their parking needs.

Hence, it was hardly surprising that Razorpay, India's first well-known full-stack financial solutions company headquartered in Bengaluru, approached us -- Park+-- to solve the parking challenges of its multi-tenant buildings in SJR CYBER LASKER and SALARPURIA SATTVA, located in the busy Koramangala area.

Park+ was asked to ensure smooth and seamless parking for 35 four-wheelers and 182 two-wheelers for SJR CYBER LASKER and 120 four-wheelers and 160 two-wheelers for SALARPURIA SATTVA in the parking slot.

We responded by providing real-time parking visibility to the employees of Razorpay by setting up an administrative dashboard, employee app, FASTag integration, radio frequency identification (RFID)Tags, and RFID readers. By employing a cloud-based solution, we were also able to provide real-time status updates on the employee’s application and on the administration dashboard. Since RFID tags act as a unique identifier of vehicles, the RFID tags, given to the employees, was able to track the entry and exit of every vehicle on the premises. The RFID reader scans the tags at the office premises' entry and exit points and accordingly updates the parking slots' availability in the employee’s application and administration dashboard.

Having access to real-time data and day-to-day utilisation of the parking area provided other benefits too. It meant that we could further streamline the parking experience of the employees by anticipating the status of the parking lot on the office premises. And in case the parking lot was full in the office, our App allowed employees to find nearby parking locations, thereby saving the hassle of wasting time in finding an empty parking slot.
