Volvo XC90 Facelift Coming Soon: Design Tweaks, New Tech, and Hybrid Power

Volvo XC90 Facelift: What to Expect from the Updated Flagship SUV

Volvo’s flagship XC90 SUV is set to receive a facelift in India soon, following its global unveiling last year. The refreshed model adopts design elements from the all-electric EX90, bringing a modernized look and a more tech-savvy cabin.

While the SUV retains its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version offers an extended EV range of up to 70km.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s new in the upcoming XC90 facelift.

Refreshed Exterior with Modern Styling

Visually, the XC90 facelift maintains the same proportions as the current model but gets subtle yet effective design upgrades. The front fascia now features a redesigned grille and new headlights with Volvo’s signature T-shaped DRLs. The air dam has also been revised, lending a slightly more aggressive stance.

While the side profile remains largely unchanged, the rear gets minor updates, possibly including reworked LED taillights and a refreshed bumper design. These updates ensure that the XC90 continues to look fresh and in sync with Volvo’s latest design philosophy.

Tech-Loaded Cabin with More Space

Inside, the XC90 facelift brings a larger touchscreen infotainment system, enhancing the in-car experience with better connectivity and improved responsiveness. While the overall interior layout remains similar, Volvo has reworked the center console to provide extra storage space.

Volvo is also introducing Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology in the XC90 facelift, which means a tweaked suspension setup for improved ride, comfort and handling. This will likely make the SUV even more refined over rough roads while maintaining its trademark Scandinavian luxury feel.

Hybrid Powertrains Continue with Better Efficiency

Under the hood, the Volvo XC90 facelift continues with the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, but with two electrified options:

  • 48V Mild-Hybrid – Offers better efficiency and smoother power delivery.

  • Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) – Comes with an 18.8kWh battery pack, delivering an EV-only range of up to 70km, making it ideal for city driving without fuel consumption.

Expected Launch and Variants

Volvo has yet to confirm an exact launch date and variant-wise availability, but given its global debut last year, the XC90 facelift is expected to arrive in India soon. The SUV will likely continue to compete with models like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Audi Q7, offering buyers a blend of luxury, technology, and electrification.

With updated styling, new tech features, and an improved hybrid system, the Volvo XC90 facelift is set to remain a strong contender in the luxury SUV segment. Stay updated for official launch details and pricing!
