The latest version of the XC90 was released in 2022 and features numerous upgrades and enhancements. The new model offers a refreshed exterior design with a bolder and more modern look.
The interior has been upgraded with premium materials, a larger infotainment system, and advanced safety features.
The XC90 was launched in several variants, including the B6, T5, T6, T8, and Recharge Plug-In Hybrid models. Each variant offers unique features and capabilities to cater to different driving needs.
However, all the variants except the B6 Ultimate variant have been discontinued in India.
The Volvo XC90 has a bold and distinctive exterior that reflects its robust and elegant character. The XC90's design is a perfect blend of traditional Scandinavian minimalism and modern technology.
The front of the XC90 is dominated by the signature "Thor's Hammer" LED headlamps that give it a dynamic and aggressive look. The bonnet is long and sturdy, giving the car a commanding presence on the road.
The side profile of the XC90 is characterized by sharp lines and clean curves, giving it a timeless and sophisticated look. The XC90 features 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels that further enhance its visual appeal. The roofline slopes smoothly towards the rear, giving the XC90 a sporty and aerodynamic silhouette.
The rear of the XC90 is equally impressive, with LED taillights that wrap around the sides of the car. The boot lid is power-operated and features a hands-free opening function, making it easy to load and unload luggage. The twin chrome exhaust pipes add a touch of sportiness to the car's design.
The Volvo XC90 has a spacious and luxurious interior that is designed to provide a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. The XC90's cabin is filled with premium materials and advanced technology, making it a pleasure to be in.
The seats of the XC90 are wrapped in high-quality leather and are ergonomically designed to provide maximum comfort and support. The front seats are heated and ventilated and the second-row seats can be folded down to provide extra cargo space. You can also fit the XC90 with a third row of seats, which is a feature especially useful for larger families.
The dashboard of the XC90 is dominated by a large 9-inch touchscreen display that controls the car's infotainment system. The system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. You also get a panoramic sunroof that makes the cabin airy.
The XC90 also features a premium Bowers & Wilkins sound system, with speakers strategically placed throughout the cabin to provide a truly immersive audio experience.
The handcrafted gear level is finished in Swedish crystal made exclusively for Volvo by Orrefors and offers a premium touch.
Safety is a top priority for Volvo, and the XC90 is equipped with an impressive array of safety features. Some of the safety features that the XC90 comes equipped with include
7 airbags
ABS(Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD
Electronic Stability Control
A 360-degree camera and parking sensors
Hill Descent Control
Lane Departure Warning
Blind Spot Monitoring
Cross-Traffic Alert
Adaptive Cruise Control
Collision Avoidance.
The XC90 has received top safety ratings from several independent safety organizations, including a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP.
It also features Volvo's City Safety system, which includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and intersection support.
The XC90 is known for its advanced semi-autonomous driving system called Pilot Assist, which helps drivers stay in their lane, maintain a safe distance from other cars, and brake and accelerate automatically in traffic.
The Volvo XC90 offers impressive performance and a smooth driving experience on the road.
It is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which generates 300 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which provides seamless gear shifts.
The top speed of the XC90 is around 230 km/h, which is impressive for a car of this size. It can also accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 6.7 seconds, which is again impressive for an SUV. The XC90's all-wheel-drive system ensures that it can tackle any terrain and provides a confident driving experience.
You will find the steering very responsive and engaging in the XC90. At low speeds, it is very light and direct, making the car feel agile. Even at higher speeds, you will find the steering very accurate around corners.
The updated suspension is stiffer and can be lowered in Dynamic mode. Bump absorption is much better and you will find the ride very comfortable over bad roads and on long journeys. However, you will find considerable body roll if you carry more speed around corners. It is not as agile as say, a BMW X5 M.
The Volvo XC90 is a great luxury SUV for those looking for a practical and safe high-end SUV. However, owning a car means other hassles like finding a convenient parking space, choosing the right insurance, and keeping track of challans.
Whether its managing car insurance, checking challan status, or buying used cars and recharging FASTag, the Park+ app can do it all for you. You can even book a doorstep car wash service to keep your Volvo clean and looking great.
