The beginning of 2025 saw big car launches, such as the Kia Syros, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and numerous others. As we approach the second quarter of the year, April is set to continue the momentum with several new launches.
Here is the glimpse at the future automobile launches in April 2025 by Kia and Hyundai, and other carmakers.
Volkswagen Tiguan R Line
The Tiguan R Line will come next month as Volkswagen's priciest SUV model in India. In contrast to the now-on-sale previous-gen Tiguan here, the new SUV is 30mm longer and has been redone styling, such as redone headlights, sporty front and rear bumpers, 19-inch alloy wheels, R Line side panels, full-width LED front and rear light strips, and a rear spoiler.
Interiors of Tiguan R Line
On the inside, the Tiguan R Line is decked out with creature comforts such as a 10.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, sports seats, tri-zone ambient lighting with 30 colours, and a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen that runs Volkswagen's latest MIB4 software with over-the-air update capability.
Powertrain of Tiguan R Line
The India-spec Tiguan R Line will be driven by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 204 hp and 320 Nm. Drive goes to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and Volkswagen quotes a 0-100kph time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 229kph. As the Tiguan R Line will be imported to India as a CBU, expect prices to be around Rs 50 lakh.
MG Cyberster
MG's first all-electric sports car - the Cyberster - will go on sale in India next month and will be sold exclusively via MG Select premium showrooms. Styling-wise, the Cyberster features a swooping fascia that goes upwards to resemble a smile, a long bonnet, 20-inch wheels as standard, arrow-shaped tail-lamps joined by an LED strip, and naturally, scissor doors.
Interiors of Cyberster
Moving to the inside, the Cyberster features a 10.25-inch all-digital driver's instrument cluster, two 7-inch displays, and a further 7-inch touchscreen on the center console. Adaptive cruise control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite that includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and collision warning are available too.
Powertrain of Cyberster
Until now, MG has only brought the Cyberster's range-topping 77kWh all-wheel drive model to India, which is powered by dual motors that deliver 510hp and 725Nm, good for a 3.2sec 0-100kph and a 580km claimed range. Depending on market feedback, MG may bring the lower-spec 64kWh rear-wheel drive Cyberster, which delivers 310hp, 475Nm, and a 4.9sec 0-100kph.
Kia Carens Facelift
Three years since its first release in India, the Kia Carens MPV will be facelifted next month. However, Kia is going to adopt the Honda Amaze strategy with the Carens facelift by offering it along with the existing model. The Carens facelift will have a new name, and spy photographs of the redesigned MPV have teased a higher bonnet line to provide it with an SUV-like stance, Syros-inspired headlamps, vertically-positioned tail-lamps with an LED light bar, and fresh 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Interiors of Kia Carens Facelift
Accurate information about what will happen inside is not available yet, but we anticipate Kia to freshen up the Carens' dashboard with fresh buttons and switchgear, and improved materials. As in more recent Kia models, the facelifted Carens' feature list might also include Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera.
Powertrain of Kia Carens Facelift
The new Carens is expected to have the same three powertrains as the outgoing car. Base variants will come with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 115hp and 144Nm, with only a 6-speed manual on offer, while more premium variants will receive a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine making 160hp and 253Nm, along with a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine will also be offered throughout the line-up, matched with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Skoda Kodiaq
The new-gen Kodiaq features refreshed styling elements that align the flagship SUV with Skoda's international models. At the front, the new Kodiaq features Kushaq-like headlights, a fresh grille, and a restyled bumper. The side profile is sleeker than the old Kodiaq, and door-mounted wing mirrors and fresh alloy wheels are present, too. Over to the back, the tail lamps are joined, and chunky cladding is visible lower down.
Interiors and Powertrain of Skoda Kodiaq
Within, the new Kodiaq receives a 13-inch infotainment display, ambient lighting, an all-digital instrument screen, and more. The SUV is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor used in the outgoing Kodiaq. The output is 190 hp and 320 Nm, which is distributed to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Tata Curvv Dark Edition
In the footsteps of the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, the Tata Curvv is set to join the Dark Edition ranks. Priced in the top-end Accomplished variant alone, the Curvv Dark Edition will be a cosmetic update, with the coupe SUV featuring an all-black colour tone throughout the interior and exterior.
Powertrain of Tata Curvv Dark Edition
Nothing is likely to change beneath the skin, with the Curvv Dark Edition likely to provide the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (125hp, 225Nm) and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel (118hp, 260Nm) powerplants, both of which can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Pricing should fall between Rs 16.5 lakh- 19.5 lakh (petrol) and Rs 16.8 lakh- 19.6 lakh (diesel), with an estimated Rs 40,000 premium over the regular Curvv variants.
Citroen Basalt Dark Edition
The Citroen Basalt will also introduce a Dark Edition to its variant range early next month. A new teaser video released by Citroen suggests the Basalt Dark Edition will have an all-new black body colour and is expected to add to the current five available colour choices. Blacked-out front and rear skid plates, unique badging, and dark chrome-finished alloy wheels can possibly be added as well. The blacked-out treatment is also anticipated to be applied to the cabin of the Basalt.
Powertrain of Basalt Dark Edition
Similar to other all-black interpretations, the Basalt Dark Edition will probably be derived from the coupe SUV's top-of-the-line Max trim, which is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor producing 110hp and 205Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Conclusion
April 2025 promises to be a thrilling month for motoring enthusiasts, with a diverse array of launches covering SUVs, MPVs, and electric sports cars. From Volkswagen's high-performance Tiguan R Line and MG's concept-like Cyberster
