Tesla Model Y India Booking Guide: How to Reserve Yours
  • A step-by-step breakdown of the Tesla Model Y booking process, both online and at a Tesla Experience Centre.

  • An overview of the Model Y's variants, powertrains, features, and pricing in the Indian market.

Tesla introduced the Model Y to the Indian market in 2025, and more recently added a new long-wheelbase L variant with three rows of seating, priced from Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

If you have been sitting on the fence, the booking process is far less intimidating than you might expect, with two clear routes available.

Booking Through the Tesla India Website

The online route is the most convenient option for most buyers. You visit the Tesla India website and work through a series of selections that include your preferred city, whether you would like to pay in full or opt for an auto loan, your choice of variant, and your preferred exterior and interior colour combination.

There is also an option to add the Full Self-Driving capability package at the configuration stage. Once your personal details are entered, a booking amount of Rs 22,220 is required to confirm the reservation, after which you receive a booking confirmation.

Booking at a Tesla Experience Centre

For those who would rather see the car at the showroom before committing, an offline booking at a Tesla Experience Centre is equally straightforward.

A sales representative walks you through the entire process, collects your contact details, including name, email address, phone number, and address, and helps you finalise your variant, colour, and FSD preferences. It is worth noting that Tesla currently operates only three experience centres across India, so planning a visit in advance is advisable. A test drive before signing on the dotted line is strongly recommended.

What the Tesla Model Y Offers

The Model Y carries Tesla's signature minimalist design language, featuring a connected LED light bar, slim horizontal LED headlamps, flush door handles, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, a large central touchscreen takes care of nearly every function, including the instrument cluster display, sitting alongside a three-spoke steering wheel and slim AC vents across the dashboard.

Key features include a panoramic glass roof, a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered front and rear seats, an 8-inch touchscreen for rear passengers, a 19-speaker audio system, a powered tailgate, an air purifier, a heated steering wheel, and wireless phone chargers.

On the safety front, the car comes with multiple airbags, an in-built dashcam, electronic stability control, hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors, and an advanced driver assistance system.

The Full Self-Driving package, which will be activated via a future software update, is available as an optional add-on for Rs 6 lakh.

Three Powertrain Options and a Strong Range Figure

Tesla offers the Model Y in three powertrain configurations. The Premium RWD returns a claimed 500 km of WLTP range and sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.

The Premium RWD Long-Range stretches that to 622 km with a 5.6-second sprint time. At the top sits the L Premium AWD, which pairs two motors with all-wheel drive for a 681 km claimed range and a 5.0-second 0 to 100 kmph time.

Tesla also claims its Supercharger network can add up to 288 km of range in just 15 minutes.

Prices and the Competition

The Tesla Model Y range starts at Rs 69.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and competes with rivals such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, BMW iX1, BYD Sealion 7, and Volvo EC40.
